Exciting news at YLabs! 🎉

After a decade under Dr. Rebecca Hope’s incredible leadership, we are thrilled to welcome Dr. Chinwe Effiong as YLabs’ new Chief Executive Officer! Over the last ten years, we’ve partnered with thousands of youth to develop and scale initiatives in health, economic opportunity, and climate resilience reaching over 1.1 million youth in 18 countries.

Rebecca Hope, YLabs Co-Founder and outgoing CEO, shared, “I cannot think of a better person than Chinwe to steward our work into the next decade. I am delighted to welcome Chinwe as YLabs’ new CEO and look forward to seeing her advance YLabs’ impact for youth, with youth in the years to come.”

Following a comprehensive search by our Board of Directors, Chinwe was selected for her outstanding qualifications, her commitment to young people, and her belief that their voices must not only be heard but valued.

Chinwe shared her excitement, saying, “I am honored and thrilled to join YLabs at this critical juncture in its history and grateful to Rebecca and YLabs’ Board of Directors for their remarkable vision and excellent stewardship of the organization to date.”

The climate crisis isn’t just a threat to our environment — it directly jeopardizes sexual reproductive health, rights, and gender equality.

Over 14 million women and girls are at risk of losing access to contraception by 2030 due to climate disasters alone.

Despite this, YLabs’ new analysis of nearly 60 countries’ climate adaptation plans found that ZERO countries include voluntary rights-based continuous contraceptive access as part of their climate adaptation approach.

This is just one concrete example of how sexual and reproductive health and rights are too often overlooked and left out of the conversation.

When it comes to climate change, knowing where to begin can feel overwhelming. That’s why YLabs developed the Climate Change x SRHR Evidence and Action Hub. It gives funders, implementers, and policymakers the data and tools they need to protect reproductive health and rights in the face of climate change.

Gender equality and climate justice are intertwined. And we need climate solutions that reflect that.

Visit http://www.Climate-SRHR.org to explore our findings, data, and tools to drive forward a climate-resilient, gender-just future.

🧠 With the mental health crisis weighing on youth, young leaders are making sure it's a top priority for themselves and their peers.

In Rwanda, our Tegura Ejo Heza project built on this passion, equipping young people with the resources necessary to support their friends. And their impact exceeded our expectations!

Read about the three-pronged approach that made a huge difference in breaking the silence on mental health in our latest blog post ✍️ (link in bio) by @ylabsglobal

Only 1.6% of global health funding touches youth programs.
The rest? Not for us.

But young leaders aren’t waiting for the system to change. They’re building their own.
