I don't normally like before/after pics, bc they allude to the idea that the "before" is inferior, less desirable.. less attractive. (Which hits way harder than you might realize- especially if you live in a body that looks like a "before.") But I had to make a pic for my new GoFundMe, to illustrate at a glance what it's about. So, here we are. But let me be perfectly clear: I am NOT ashamed of my previous body, or the person I was within it. And after losing 182lbs, guess what? My blindness, stages 3 & 4 arthritis in my knees, & chronic neck pain won't just magically disappear with weight loss. ;) Health conditions exist in people of ALL sizes, & we need to stop equating thinness & youth w/health. You can be thin as a rail & still have cancer, battle addiction, eating disorders, etc. And you can be a 2x, 4x, or 8x- & have the EXACT. SAME. ISSUES. A lifetime of memories, experiences, medical history, & trauma don't just evaporate when your body changes. And believe me, despite popular belief, WLS is NOT a quick, easy fix. IMMENSE hard work, time, energy, & dedication have gone into my transformation. (if you'd like to see my progress chart, lmk.) That's why I will ALWAYS be an advocate for bigger & different bodies. No matter my size, I will ALWAYS root for the Big Girls. I will ALWAYS believe we deserve love, positive attention, & spotlighting in popular media, art, literature, fashion & culture. I know firsthand that thin =\= healthier, prettier, more worthy, more valuable, or better in general. And it never has. I did this so I could feel freer, stronger, more flexible, & more physically able to live the life I've always strived for. (As a mermaid, performer, & beyond.) But please, PLEASE know that if you look like my "before" I will ALWAYS See you. Love you. Adore & Uplift you. That's never gonna change. Bc no matter how I look on the outside, I have a lifetime of being the "before," and I will, for good or for ill, NEVER forget how that feels. Remember that compilation I mentioned..? ;D THIS is why I love makeup.. THE POWER OF TRANSFORMATION! πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯° I've always been a changeling, & makeup, costuming & effects allow me to bring just a -drop- of what's on the inside to the outside! 🩡🩡🩡 For me, it's not just about the pretty colors & textures, the fancy boxes or shiny tools (although I love those too ;)). It's about the storytelling, & bringing characters to life! πŸ₯°πŸ₯° I'm not perfect, & neither are my creations. But I don't think I've done so bad for a half blind, broke, fluffy fish, looking back on things right now. :) I've always done my best to infuse all I do with empathy, thoughtfulness, respect & love. (Even when I tripped & fell down, or was feeling hurt, angry or lost. 🩡) I dunno what's in store for me in the coming year/s, but here's to the bright, happy adventures of the past, & LIMITLESSLY bigger, brighter, better, happier, healthier, more bountiful & fulfilling ones in the future!! πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»πŸ’• Here's to finding a tank to swim in, paid work that I love, new opportunities (joyously & successfully accomplished), & a new place (or two ;)) to Belong. πŸ₯°πŸ₯° Here's to cultivating strength, true courage, prosperity, healing, unity, success, creativity, productivity, freedom, flexibility, dreams made manifest, & peace. Happy Frozen Fish Friday!!! (How have I -NEVER- thought of that before..??? 🀣) Last weekend I had a maaaagical experience far, far away from the drudgery of the 'Oomin world. πŸ₯° I didn't take a ton of pics, but I did try to commemorate my funky self each day, for posteritiltty. XD (Even though I'm.. kinda without these days. ;D) And while being a fish is a HUGE part of who I am, it's not by any means aaallll that I am. So this weekend it was a joy to express multiple facets of what makes up.. well.. me. :) I was a stop sign. A walking blanket. A Bohemian dancing fish, A siren, An animal. A lightning bug. A ren rat. A goofball. A helper. A bard. A bellydancer. A twitterpated fireheart. And in all things, a changeling. Freely, & truly, in AllWays, Fae. 🩡 Know who you are, friends. Don't be afraid to explore & find new facets of the jewel that is you. Give at least 10% to letting go & Diving In. If you're in a safe space where you can truly open yourself up, let yourself just.. Today I present you with more magical moments captured by @missdeminna , @ @therealmsunknown Festival 2026! πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯° The mers' INCREDIBLY sweet faerie-smashing barbarian friend surprise-introduced me to a PRECIOUS, fat, round little new caterpillar buddy, bc she knows I don't see well. πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯° HOW SWEET IS THAT??? πŸ’•πŸ’• She sweetly presented him on a tea saucer (as we were at a high tea), & I was so enamored, I asked permission to bring him a li'l closer, by relocating him onto the back of my hand. πŸ’–πŸ’– Well I pray he's okay, 'cause little guy ended up sticking WAY too well to my sleeve. (I dunno if he liked me or if the sticky pads on his feet just got stink to the lycra fabric...) Happy Siren Sunday, beauties! πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’• (Tooootally broken out today, after trying two new products. Has the NYC Wonder Snatch concealer or Juvia's Place powder foundation ever broken you out..? Those are the only two new things I was testing yesterday, & I felt the breakout starting last night. And today I'm COVERED in painful, deep pimples. Gotta figure out which is the culprit, bc I thought they both really seemed to work well! Nyx needs to bring back their Can't Stop Won't Stop line. A little skincare shell magic! I think next time I'm just gonna leave them overnight rather than for a full 24hrs. And when I say paste in the video, I mean like it's clearly had a reaction, but it's completely dry to the touch. It's not a powder, whatever happened has literally dried to a hard texture that doesn't even move, & become a solid, bonded to the shell's surface again. Now we've gotta see how the shells react to bottled lemon juice, and if it'll help rehydrate the crusted bits that dried out! Plus I'm curious to see how the bare shelf surfaces survived, after the cream has been removed/used. :) So fascinating! 🩡🩡 Clearly the winner so far is the ruffly fan scallop shell. I'm surprised bc it's SO matte, completed to the Abalone with the amazing shine, that turned out to dry up just like the other guys! I hope I can rehydrate the other creams at the damage to the shells wasn't a total waste. Time to make @catdamiandesign's abuelita's Crema de Concha Nacar, using nothing but seashells & lemon juice!! XD (Something even THIS brokefish can afford! XD) As a professional fishbutt I'm kinda drowning in seashells, so this was a TREAT to discover! ^_^ (And with it being the end of "mermaiding season" here in the PNW, this is the perfect time to try it! (Since sun should be avoided when using citrus on the skin, as too much sun can cause irritation.🩡) All shells were thoroughly cleaned with hand soap & hands (no natural loofahs unfortunately, so the mitts seemed a good secondary option ;)), & dried overnight. :) Now they're sitting in my window, waiting for the results to be revealed tomorrow! XD If you wanna see all the videos I shot for this, you can join my broadcast channel here on IG. 🩡 And if you wanna see how the creams turned out (& how they might be different in future with bottled lemon juice) gimme a follow! I'm so excited to see how these turn out, and how they might help my poor bumpalicious skin! πŸ₯° And speaking of, If you wanna sea how las cremas actually work on my face lmk. I'm reticent to show my bare face on camera, but I will if that'd help y'all. 🩡 And lmk if you've tried this, & if so how it worked for you! 🩡 (Even better if you've got measurements to suggest! πŸ˜… I hate guesstimating, bc I'm terrified of messing things up! 😬) Lastly, worry about the floof. Citrus has long been used as a natural deterrent to prevent kitties from getting into stuff they shouldn't- like Yule trees & human flesh!
