it’s been such a fun ride filming superstar and i thought i’d share some bts moments with you 🎬 i spent a lot of time covering myself in ribbon, driving up and down LA to scout locations, and overthinking 😌 some scenes will go unnoticed —like the cotton candy scene… but i had a ✨vision✨ and i’m stubborn 💁‍♀️

i learned that it’s basically impossible to find cotton candy anywhere in LA, so i decided i could make it myself 🙌 bought a cotton candy machine and quickly realized that i had to batch make it, store it in ziplocks, and keep it in a cooler bag while driving to the filming location just to make it last more than a second in LA humidity 😌 we got the three-second shot!! it didn’t turn out as expected (it almost never does!!!) but it’s not about making sense all the time…

the reason i’m sharing this is because we live in a time when AI is replacing fun and creativity. the whole point of making art is enjoying the process and inspiring others, it’s not always about automating ✨ optimizing ✨ and leveraging ✨

on the other hand, i went down a rabbit hole searching for inspiration and discovered so many artists, designers, videographers, and editors that genuinely blew my mind! it’s incredible how talented and creative people can be. i have so much appreciation and admiration for them, and it makes me want to challenge myself more, so hopefully my art can inspire someone else too.

and that’s why i love this city so much, and that’s what inspired superstar. driving around LA and watching people enjoy life, be delusional, and follow their dreams, romanticize their life even if that means waiting in hour-long lines for matcha —genuinely makes me so happy 🤍i don’t usually write this much, so thank you if you made it this far by @ynehya
