TULIPS // Because flowers are pretty - but these are beautiful. I love how the light is hitting them - no filter folks, just nature. I miss sunny strolls in Central Park. Especially when there are icicles outside. And you know, quarantine inside with only the smell of Lysol in the air 💁🏻‍♀️

DAYBREAKER // Celebrating around midnight after a Halloween party, @danielfine21 asks if @bevanburns and I want to go to @dybrkr the next morning at 6AM.... in 6 hours. I thought he was insane! But it looked fun and I caved to the peer pressure.
✨
I ran up to the pier just in time to catch the early boat departure and walk into a sea of humans so happy that their insides could have been giggling! All in costumes, jumping up and down, grooving to the beat and getting pumped up by @elliottlarue. The energy was electric. You couldn’t help but smile from ear to ear. No one was judging about your dance moves, people were smiling and dancing with strangers. The cruise scored us a sunrise view of the Statue of Liberty with an epic soundtrack.

This was more than an event. It was a community. A family. Thank you to @love.radha @eliclarkdavis for creating a life-changing experience for happiness, love, connection and the absolute best way to start a day. Those Daybreakers are some of my favorite memories of NYC.

A couple weeks of self isolation, then a 30-day stay at home order, paired with the consistent and oppressive negative news surrounding us - it’s overwhelming. And I know I’m not the only one.
✨
I’m going to start posting photos daily during the quarantine of memories that make me happy in an effort to share some happiness with you because we all need it. This is a reminder to give yourself (and others) permission to feel. You can still social distance and be responsible while also being frustrated and annoyed with cancelled or changed plans. So dial back your expectations. Breathe. Deep. Breaths. Be grateful. And do things that make you happy.

Floral designs like this are common in Bali. It’s truly a place of saturated colors, keen awareness to what you are feeling, and constant reminders to be grateful for who we are, our friends and family, and our health - all of the non-material wealth we are lucky enough to have in our lives. Every time I would see one of these I would stop and have to catch my breath. The care, love, creativity, and kindness to do this. Because they were doing this for others to see. Not for themselves. There’s no signature. No credit. Just wanted to create something beautiful in this world to share with others and bring a smile to the face of strangers.

Amazing flowers, right? But there’s no stems? Correct.
•
These flowers are used in ceremonies, and most often the daily offerings that are placed in front of homes, restaurants, temples, and even in taxis and on motorbikes and scooters.
•
The flowers commonly used are marigolds (which also commonly lined walkways and entrances), plumeria, frangipani 😍, and many others.
•
Every morning, before 6am this market was already bustling right across the street from where I lived. Full of these flowers, dragon fruits, snake fruit and more fun findings. 💕
•

Sunset on the weekend but don’t let the Sunday scaries darken your day.
•
There’s a couple things I do to avoid those scaries and ensure a productive week. Try these out!
•
Name your frogs. What are the 3 big ugly tasks you must get done for the week? Name them and plan time at the beginning of the week.
•
Tadpoles. Plan your week ahead - meaning time block on your calendar. I usually have 3 big things I must get done for the week and smaller things I have to get done each day. The first thing I tackle in the morning are those frogs, rather tadpoles, before I do anything - even emails.
•
Read. It’s good to end the night being inspired, focus and motivated.
•

Clouds? Nope. That’s a frozen Lake Michigan.

I love gazing out the window when I fly. Things that we see and drive by everyday seem so different and beautiful at 30,000 feet.
•
That’s perspective for you. It’s a great gift we have to see things in a different perspective. Whether it’s these landscapes from above, a snarky service person or client, or a problem you have in your own life. Refrain from judgement. Take a step back. And look at it from their perspective, a different perspective.
•
You’ll be amazed at what such a small shift can change your reactions, mood, mindset and more, in a big way.
•

January is always the time of year that people feel permission to change things. Why don’t we do this consistently when we have that sickening feeling that something is wrong and needs to change?
•
It reminds me of Tirta Empul, the holy spring water temple built in 926 A.D. located just outside of Ubud, Bali. It’s a ritual purification temple, a truly beautiful practice and by far my most treasured memory in Bali. Balinese Hindus and tourists alike visit the Temple to achieve peace and receive blessings from everything from a death in the family to bad nightmares.
•
The Temple is made up of 30 water showers, split between two pools. The first pool is to clear you of all negative vibes: relationships, acquaintances, and promises. Bye Felicia ✌🏼

The 2nd pool is all about replenishing the cleansed soul and body with good vibes. Blessings of health, wealth and happiness. For good luck. For happy chakras 💗
•
The best part? You can go anytime. As many times as you want. It’s not something you have to wait for the new year, the next month, Monday, or “when I get this project done.” It’s making a decision to cleanse the bad from your life, and replenish the good. To tell God, the Universe, or whatever you believe that you are ready for a fresh start and ready to make changes. There is too little time to appease everyone. Be selfish. Take care of yourself. Ensure your own happiness. Because only when you are your best self can you truly be of service to others.

Crazy to think I missed this by less than a week. This is Mt. Agung in all of its glory. Luckily winds are pushing this East away from my Hubudians. Thinking of them and those 25k+ evacuated from the surrounding villages. Airports are closed too. Spectacular 📸 @eyes_of_a_nomad .
