CEREMOINIES

Taking place throughout the summer in the synagogue memorial, the series works with the site itself: not to fix its meaning, but to keep it in motion, By looking beyond a space defined only by a “terrifying past,” we invite you to encounter it as a place that also holds presence, continuity, and the possibility of celebrating life.

With this three-part concert series, we at ANTI take this as a starting point to open things up. Across three interconnected chapters, the program unfolds as a shared inquiry into Jewish culture and memorial practices, questioning how memory is shaped, experienced, and carried forward.

Third chapter:

BK United, Amit Dagim (Jaffa) and Avraham Kober (Berlin), work as a duo using modular synthesis, feedback, and digital sound processes. the duo draws on diasporic subcultural Jewish currents in history, and the lore of partisan resistance in the Holocaust as an attempt to give a sonorous face to the historical Jewish experiences in exile and the Holocaust in an indirect and sometimes mystical interpretation of this history.

Teffer (Or Mai), is a Jerusalem-based sound and vocal artist and a graduate of the New Music Department at the Musrara School of Art. In her solo project, she explores the intersection of the human voice’s tremor and electronics, delving into the ritualistic nature and chaos that can emerge between the two. Through a musical process of weaving and unraveling, she breathes new meaning into words and the emotions inherent within them.

Ritual & Rebellion #4 Konzert mit BK United (JAFFA/B) & Teffer (JLM)
14.08.2026 im LOKOMOV
Einlass 20 Uhr, Beginn 21 Uhr

With this three-part concert series, we at ANTI take this as a starting point to open things up. Across three interconnected chapters, the program unfolds as a shared inquiry into Jewish culture and memorial practices, questioning how memory is shaped, experienced, and carried forward.

first chapter:

Ensemble of Love and Terror - a musical duo consisting of Amir Bolzman (computer and accordion) and Ariel Armoni (percussion and accordion), The ensemble blends experimental electronics, folklore samples, and unique rhythm work. In their creations, they explore the intersection between musical traditions and contemporary technology, deconstructing and reinventing traditional musical elements.. In the concert they will show their work „Hora I & II & III“, offering a contemporary interpretation of Hora songs from Eastern Europe, incorporating improvisation, electronic processing, and rhythm work.

Foreignfire - David Israel Katz, brings to life jewish biblical and liturgical narratives in multidisciplinary works, combining text, voice, movement, installation and video.
With the work feuerspruch he reinterprets the Song of Songs, which glorifies Love as a fire that can’t be extinguished, a force that must not be messed with and a pleasure that can’t be bought. In feuerspruch, foreignfire appropriates the violent hatred of the infamous 1933 Nazi book burnings, reclaiming it in an act of ultimate realization. Mashing up erotic and murderous impulse and chants the Song of Songs in traditional cantillation, while burning the handwritten scroll on an altar fire.

Shaul Dahan is a composer and sound artist. In his performance Dahan marries liturgical texts, biblical prayers, and vocals with electronic music, channeling the compulsive and ecstatic dimensions of religious devotion into an intense and uncompromising practice.

We see and “understand” war primarily through images—thereby revealing the distance we have from actual wars. The closer the experience comes, the deeper it is engraved in the body, in the way we move, in how our bodies react to certain sounds, situations, and encounters.

In his work, Yoav Schutzer, born between the Oslo Peace Accords and the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin, i.e., between the real hope for peace and the shattering of that hope, takes a look at the experience of growing up in the shadow of ongoing war.

From here, he goes further, digging through the private photo archive of his father, Roni Schutzer, which contains over 40 years of personal and political history.
In dialogue with these testimonies, Yoav searches for traces of coming of age, identity, and trauma.

_________________________
