As the weather turns cold, dry, and windy, many of us start to feel it with restless minds, trouble sleeping, dry sinuses, and that ungrounded, scattered feeling. In Ayurveda, this is the time to slow down, add warmth and oil, and extra care.

On Sunday, November 8th, I'll be at Yoga Foundation in Huntington Station offering two therapies

🍁Shirodhara: a continuous, warm stream of herbal oil is gently poured over the forehead to calm a busy mind and invite the body into profound rest.

🍁Nasya: a traditional therapy that nourishes and protects the nasal passages as the air turns dry. It's traditionally used to support sinus health, ease congestion and headaches right as cold and allergy season begins.

🍂Appointments are limited, so book yours through the link in my bio.

Yoga is the inner self caregiving we need when we find ourselves spending a lot of time tending to others’ inner and outer care. This course centers on inspiring messages, community and soothing practices to make your world feel like a better place, whether you are on or off duty.

Yes, you can do an entire Krishnamacharya lineage Yoga practice lying down.

Stillness can be agitating in a mind and body that is always moving and/feels uncomfortable. Or, it can be approached in a mentally engaging, step-by-step manner that encourages a shift into your nervous system’s relaxation response.

This coming Saturday at noon, come relax for 45 minutes of restorative practice that fosters a calm stillness.

Every practice introduces new skills you may use in your daily life to render it an empowered experience.

This online Prānāyāma course excerpt highlights some preparatory āsana-s that support the prānāyāma goal for that class.

Believe me, out of all the practices I’ve done to help release my diaphragm, which tightens up when I’m stressed like all your’s do too, prānāyāma is paramount. Smooth, intentional breathing techniques take off the edge, supporting a more relaxed physical state.

Creating safety in your body extends into your mind, as afferent nerve fibers carry those sensory signals to the brain.

At Yoga Foundation, we align with the seasons, and we got the memo: it’s time to shed what isn’t literally supporting our life as we enter a new season.

October’s meditation will help, and it’s online, and it’s recorded, and it’s meant to be done daily.

And it’s doable for us, modern householders with innumerable leaves on our trees.

Start where you are, and let’s aim you on a positive trajectory to endure and even prosper through life’s demands.

We have designated classes to address bone mass, and all of our classes will be keeping this on the radar because they are stage-of-life informed.

Read that again.

All of our classes are stage of-life-informed. This is a premise of Yoga. It’s not random, but specific. Not general, but personal.

For my women weathering changes, keep ya head up.

Yoga punctuates life and all it brings with a dose of easeful steadiness. Appropriate for perimenopausal and menopausal women.

The multifarious, concurrent and often discombobulating, unpredictability of it all can seem daunting without a self-practice that includes all the necessary tools in our Yogic wheelhouse.

Balancing metabolic health and emotional wellbeing, fortifying weakening bones and muscles and boosting confidence and self esteem will be the goals of this session.
