Well I suppose it’s important to lose your inhibitions at some point, take a leaf out of @crazyauntieann’s book and film yourself dancing in your friend’s kitchen while boiling eggs (that’s the odd noise in the background).

One of my favourite tracks for carving/letter-cutting.

I’ve been practising the various bits of ‘All that glisters…’ that I wasn’t sure about. You can see a kind of evolution going on… luckily in the process I noticed an error 😱 but corrected it 😉!

‘My darling Rosie’ is how Mum always started her letters to me. This one is from November 1981 when I’d not been in London long – I love how cheap the postage is!
I think this ‘soil testing kit’ is a Christmas present idea for Dad – both he and Mum were always keen gardeners.

It’s been one of those weeks… I like a bit of colouring – it’s absorbing and calming and always rewarding to complete a pattern. Pattern from Johanna Basford’s ‘Secret Garden’; 33 different coloured pencils – a mixture of ancient Caran D’ache Prismalo hoarded since 1992 and recent Caran D’ache Luminance from Atlantis Art Materials in Hackney.

Diana, my much loved Toyota RAV4, pictured in 2022 through my Mum’s gate. I think she’d just been to the car wash as that wheel looks suspiciously clean! It’s a tribute to the permanence of real gold gilding that the ‘car tattoo’ of her name was as beautiful as this on the day she was stolen in 2024. She was by then 29 years old and seriously feeling her age!

I first drew this in 2024, but had to wait until now when I could use the drawing board given to me by @earth_star_breathwork to make it straight and square. In fact I’d done well with the bread board I’d used up until now. The breadboard, a carpenter’s square and a sharp eye meant it wasn’t as skew-whiff as I’d thought!

There are several things I have no idea how I shall render in the end… it’s a learning curve.

I should be collecting up my goods and chattels for camping, transporting them down the 32 stairs and throwing them in the boot of the car. However, in 88ºF, 31ºC I’m cooking, on all levels. I know that at some point in the future, when all else fails, a chunky slice of GF banana bread made with love and a secret ingredient, Coconut Flour (no secret now) will save the day. Only the washing up to go…

That’s my Dad on Llwyngwril Beach in I’d say the late 60s, followed by Hazel on the same beach last week; then there’s Mum and Dad with their house Llwyn in the background and how it looks now, and as a special treat, there’s me in my early 20s with dark hair looking kind of moody!
