"All I have left is time," my father said.
"This might be my last trip."
Work gave me a little extra money, so I took my parents to Phu Quoc.
My mother's hands had swollen from caring for my grandmother. On this trip she told me the swelling had gone down.
They were both so happy.

The Room with Baikal, January 2025.

Baikal, my mother, and my grandmother all have white hair.
At my parents' home, my mother was caring for my grandmother.
Every afternoon the light comes in through the window, and Baikal finds the warm spot first.
My tired mother falls asleep beside him.

Havana, September 2017.

I was traveling in Cuba when Hurricane Irma hit.
The Malecón flooded, trees were torn out, and the whole city lost power.

Nine years later, my photographs of Korea are hanging in that same city.
Korea–Cuba Photo Exchange Exhibition "Under the Same Light," Galería El Papelista, Havana, until October 18.

Cuba, 2017.

And now, nine years later,
my photographs are being exhibited in Cuba.

This exhibition made me look back
at the photos I took there all those years ago.

Nine years later,
I miss Cuba even more.

Havana, Cuba
2017
