Solo sunset descent from Sgòr Chaonasaid (Ben Loyal)

Didn't quite make it up to an caisteal with my self imposed sunset cut off but this was more than enough. Probably the most technical / scary descent I have ever done, but christ look at the views.

I got the chance to be a lifty @glenshee_ski_centre this winter. After having the worst professional year of my life (don't ask? do? I don't know) getting to be back on my skis every day and get paid for it was a pretty special experience. Not many people have been lifties in Scotland and I don't know how many more people are going to get to, given the precarious nature of Scottish snow. Anyways here are some moments.

THIS FILM COULD HAVE GOT US SUED…

Let’s try this again shall we…..

We thought we had covered ourselves legally by redacting the word we cannot mention - it transpires that, nope we can’t even show a drawing of a B**hy on the label!!

So I’ve made the necessary changes and here is the updated version

Back in December, Neil and I joined Andy and Angus from Forth Reserve on a mammoth trek from Blair Atholl to Braemar to photograph and film their first whisky release.

We walked 20 miles through wind and driving rain to capture this bottle in the wild landscape it was made for.

Then, just as everything came together… a cease-and-desist letter arrived, threatening to shut the whole project down.

Safe to say, this one didn’t quite go to plan.

Keep your eyes peeled for this film — it’s a cracker.

So long and thanks for all the fish.

After three and half very long years, tonight is my last ever shift in @bertieswhiskybar.

I want to thank all the people over the last three years who have valiantly fought the good fight alongside the rest of my team.

To every single customer that let me rant about pittyvaich or the nature of free market capitalism or had to suffer me preaching the gospel of samaroli I apologise and thank them for indulging me.

This has been the greatest thing I have ever been a part of. I am prouder of it than almost anything in my entire life. Going out on my own terms almost makes it worth it. Everything I have done in the last few years has been in service of something really really special. taken in The Fife Arms by @yoofteem

Skye (a)live. Memorable few days. Dancing to optimo for four hours as the sun sets will be a core memory as the last DMT fires off in my brain as I die. Thanks to all and particularly @mathildelacouriere for the invite! taken in Skye by @yoofteem

Not to treat Instagram like linkedin but needed recording. In @michelinguide 2 Key review of @thefifearms, Berties Bar (my bit) is specifically called out for being "impressively well-supplied"

Given it's just me and my colleagues @markshedden and @ayogamatt that do the supply this feels like a very personal huge pat on the back.

Big thanks to all @thefifearms and @davewasabi for giving us a foundation to build from 3 years ago.

Pic 2 is a personal career highlight bottlekill from two nights ago. 17 yr old G&M Glencadam from 91. Brain breaking pink sweetness. Also known as the Margot.

Almost every day someone tells us we are running one of the best bars on earth. It's very very Scottish to self deprecate and denigrate and with hospo your face is pressed so hard against the glass it can be almost impossible to take a step back and look at what you have built but every so often something breaks through and you realise what you have helped do.

I have now made 4 people burst into tears with whisky. I can do the whole Ruger Hauer blade runner monologue but with drams and throwing babybels at Oscar winners. What I have been involved with for the last few years is very very special and I can't thank the people who have let me be a part of it enough. taken in Braemar by @yoofteem
