✨I’ve always been a dreamer!! Sleepwalking to the bathroom at 4 am to go back and see how this night’s episode will end. Trying to grasp a dream…catch it. Maybe add a little plottwist, lil razzle dazzle myself, because why not?! And when I wake up I realize that the night was just a rehearsal for the coolest reality show: Catching Dreams in Bright Daylight (it’s a worktitle lol)Thanks to the amazing team for creating magic on this day!! I speeched their ears off at the end of the day trying to find the words to go with the magic that everyone shared. So for now it’s just THANK YOU! But there is definitely power to be found in being able to pivot. Thankful for the space I’ve been given to speak about all things life right now, including one of the toughest pivots, yet fertile breeding ground for growth since our mom got diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. A compelling life, please. By any means.Captured by the amazing @linderozisSo when I was supposed to perform with my dad on guitar, (after years) but due to technical difficulties, I had to flip the script 30 mins before the show?🎯You flip it. And what happened next?It felt like magic. I surrendered. And got magic in return.@linderozis is the sweetest soul, who captured the moment after. She has the most delicate eye and perfect timing. The Book Club.And finding the Art in letting go.Sometimes words can feel like a cage holding the spirit hostage, but when it hits, it can feel liberating to the spirit of those who consume the words or the one writing them. When thoughts become solidifiedWhen thoughts solidify in words, they become tools of reflection. And that in itself can be liberating, no wrong or right, simply mentally liberating. Like a diary. It captures a state of mind, a myriad of emotions that now provides insight in the mind of an individual, a people, a movement. But before there is liberation, there must be courage. Courage to write it down. Courage to pinpoint those emotions and thoughts. And courage to let it all out. That’s why a library feels highly spiritual to me. It’s the high vibration of a physical epicentre where courage has repeatedly been chosen. Because the purpose of adding to the pool of reflections was more important than the possibility of being wrong or looked at as insane. All for the improvement, deeper understanding and compassion for yourself and others. But in this realm it’s needed to ascend.For me that’s what words mean. And after this night, I feel more inspired than ever. Courageous, even. I’m a homeowner🥹🏠 Started the new year with a bang. The silver lining. The glimmer. And it’s my biggest project so far. So excited to turn this home into my sanctuary and take you on this journey with me. A house built in 1930, 3 stories, filling them with reflections of my stories and creating new stories while we’re at it. Spaaaaace. This picture is 6 years old, maybe? But he approved.My oracle. I was sitting on the top floor of a fully stripped, butt naked, beautiful new chapter (more soon) when my dad called me. My grandfather left this earth on friday february the 13th 2026. The irony of it all. From enjoying the foundation he provided, into slowly building my own. Literally. Stacking mine on top of his. He reached the age of a hundred years and 317 days. And it may sound weird, but this man shared his spiritual blueprint with me in a way I am beyond grateful for. And so: from the moment he left I am exploding with gratitude and I choose to celebrate the days that he now became a part of me, just like a drop of rain becomes part of a limitless ocean. And it feels powerful. As he always said:Thank God in everything.And thank you all for you heartfelt condolences, I know he was your grandpa as well. Honored to screen a short I made with some of my favorite collaborators as part of Philadelphia Museum of Art’s NOAH DAVIS Exhibition! A body of work that was a huge inspiration for Really Love. Grateful to @blackstarfest for selecting the film.Sunday, March 29, 20261:00 pm - 3:00 pmPhiladelphia Museum of ArtThis exhibition, the first museum retrospective of his work, traces his relentless creativity from 2007 until his untimely death in 2015.Noah Davis began with a humble aspiration: ‘to represent the people around me’. Born in Seattle in 1983, he made LA his chosen home, where he worked to capture the intricacies of contemporary Black life with tenderness and depth. Beloved as a painter, this major retrospective presents other aspects of his practice too – from collecting photography from flea markets to making collages, websites, sculpture and eventually his own museum.This short film program examines Black quotidian life as a site of intimacy, humor, grief, and quiet wonder. Inspired by the paintings of Noah Davis, the films resist spectacle in favor of the mundane. Like Davis’s canvases, these films offer a slow-moving counterbalance to the typically extraordinary depictions of Black bodies and instead offer bodies at play, at rest, and in love. Davis often painted scenes that feel both familiar and slightly displaced: figures caught mid-thought, spaces charged with memory, and narratives left intentionally open. This program carries that sensibility into moving images. Time stretches. Gestures repeat. The camera observes without insisting on explanation. What emerges is a cinema of presence, where Black life is not defined by crisis or resolution but by texture: light sparkling on skin, the layered weight of silence, and the poetry of routine. As a group, the program invites viewers to honor the ordinary, to notice what and whom often goes unseen, and to recognize the radical tenderness of just being.In collaboration with BlackStar Film Festival. In het kader van Black History Month cureert actrice @yoothasings de prachtige film 𝗗𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝘂𝘀𝘁. Een cultureel en filmisch hoogtepunt, die zou moeten hebben gezien volgens Yootha, en daar zijn wij het helemaal mee eens. 🎞️⁠⁠𝗗𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝘂𝘀𝘁 neemt je mee naar een eiland aan de kust van South Carolina, waar de familie Peazant woont, nakomelingen van tot slaaf gemaakten. Hun zorgvuldig behouden cultuur komt onder druk te staan wanneer een groot deel van de familie besluit naar het vasteland te trekken op zoek naar een betere toekomst. New trailer alert👑KONING VAN DE ZWERVERS 🥹 I’m rewriting this in english, cause it’s a story that I know will resonate with everyone who has ever dealt with mental health challenges. In your own head, or around you and for some reason I feel like everyone needs to see this. As a (future) parent, as child of your parent. At the premiere I saw grown men holding back their tears, women sob, and kids enriched.You have time? Cause I’m on a 9 hr flight with Wifi lol @ehagenbeek wrote a deeply touching story about a little girl longing for her dad, while her mother is terrified that the once Love of her Life, will traumatize their daughter the same way. A delicate dance of acceptance, choosing you, even when it means letting go of the love of your life. Exploration of unconditional love, even when it feels excruciating.Which brings me to my incredibly talented: @niyara.leona cause seeing an 11-year old showcasing the emotional intelligence while exploring something so vulnerable? For the first time EVER on set? Girl. I will forever be in your corner! It was such an honor being your movie mom. Thank you for trusting me! (And also you promised to babysit when I become a real life mom 😂 just reminding you)🧡🐯And then @matthijsvandesandebakhuyzenYou absolutely blew me away, watching you peel away all the complex layers of this troubled man, who is also someone’s father and also someone’s soulmate, and maybe last, but far from least: a human being. You put your heart in this. Showing deep humanity in those people/ men that are often discarded in LIFE. So thank you. 👑🤝🏾@janneschmidt as the best captain this film could have needed. Can’t wait to see more beautiful sensitive, nuanced, daring stories like this one. You took a huge risk and it paid off!!! 🫶🏾@lolamooij every. Single. Frame. That’s it.
