🥬❤️ 김치로 이어진 세대와 나눔 [2026.10.05] SMW 보육원 아이들과 함께 어르신들을 위한 200kg 김치를 직접 담그는 특별한 시간을 가졌습니다. 김치를 만드는 일이 아이들에게 마냥 쉽지만은 않았습니다. 손도 시리고, 허리도 아프고, 옷에 김치가 묻기도 했지만 아이들이 전해준 이야기가 저희 마음을 따뜻하게 했습니다. “직접 만들어서 뿌듯했고, 어르신들께 드릴 수 있어서 좋았어요. 맛있게 드셨으면 좋겠어요.” 또 한 아이는 “김치를 만드는 건 어려웠지만, 다른 사람을 도울 수 있어서 뿌듯했어요”라고 이야기해주었습니다. 바로 이런 경험이 저희가 생각하는 리더십과 나눔의 시작이라고 생각합니다. 누군가를 돕는 것이 어떤 의미인지 직접 경험하고, 내가 가진 작은 시간과 노력도 다른 사람에게 따뜻한 마음이 될 수 있다는 것을 배우는 것. 그리고 아이들을 위해 맛있는 식사까지 준비해주신 요리천사 Yori Chunsa 에도 진심으로 감사드립니다. 함께해주신 셰프님들께서 맛있는 스팸볶음밥과 계란국을 직접 만들어주셔서 아이들과 봉사자 모두 든든하고 따뜻하게 하루를 마무리할 수 있었습니다. 🍚🥚 아이들이 만든 김치가 어르신들께 따뜻한 마음까지 함께 전달되기를 바랍니다. ❤️ 🥬❤️ A Day of Kimchi, Community & Giving Back Yesterday, Korea Legacy had the privilege of spending a special day with the children from SMW through Open Arms, making 200kg kimchi together for seniors in need. Making kimchi wasn’t exactly easy for the kids. Their hands got cold, their backs were sore, and there was definitely kimchi on their clothes! But what touched us most was what they said afterward. One student shared that although making kimchi was difficult, she felt proud knowing that she made it herself and that seniors would be able to enjoy it. Another said that even though it was challenging and messy, he felt proud because he was able to help someone else. Those simple words are exactly why experience like this matter. At Korea Legacy, we believe that raising the next generation of leaders starts with giving them opportunities to serve, connect with their community, and experience the joy of giving back. A huge thank you to Yori Chunsa for partnering with us and bringing your amazing chefs to prepare a delicious meal for the children; Spam fried rice and egg drop soup! 🍳🍚 It was the perfect way to warm up after a morning of kimchi-making. 요리천사와 코리아레거시가 함께하는 Leadership Academy의 첫 시작. 멋진 셰프들과 후원자, 그리고 뜻을 함께하는 사람들이 한자리에 모였습니다. 하지만 우리가 함께 나눈 것은 음식만이 아니었습니다. 요리로 나누고, 봉사로 배우고, 어르신을 섬기며 진정한 리더십을 만들어가는 것. Leadership Academy는 청소년들이 요리를 배우는 것을 넘어, 직접 음식을 만들고 어르신들에게 나누며 ‘섬김’의 가치를 경험하는 리더십 프로그램입니다. 진정한 리더십은 내가 무엇을 이루었는지가 아니라, 누구를 위해 무엇을 나누었고, 어떤 legacy를 남겼는가에 있다고 믿습니다. 한 끼의 식사에서 시작된 작은 실천이 한 사람의 리더를 만들고, 그 리더들이 더 큰 변화를 만들어갈 수 있도록. September 7th was more than a dinner. It was the beginning of something bigger. Together with Yori Chunsa, Korea Legacy officially launched the Leadership Academy- a new initiative where young leaders learn the power of cooking, serving, and giving back to our seniors. We brought together an incredible group of chefs, supporters, and changemakers in one kitchen- not simply to share a meal, but to share a purpose. ✨ 10 Years of Yori Chunsa, and a New Beginning with Korea Legacy✨ As Yori Chunsa celebrates its 10th anniversary, NYC-based, James Beard Award-winning and Michelin-starred Chef Hooni Kim will be joining the Korea Legacy Board of Directors. With Hooni’s appointment, Korea Legacy will launch a new Education Division, the Leadership Academy. The Leadership Academy will create educational programs where children can learn through cooking, create with their own hands, practice giving back, and build confidence and leadership skills. Through hands-on experiences with chefs, children will learn not only how to cook, but also how to prepare meals and side dishes for senior citizens in poverty in their communities and volunteer alongside others, discovering the values of service, responsibility, and leadership through food. If Yori Chunsa’s first 10 years were about bringing people together through food, this next chapter is about turning that experience into education that helps shape the next generation. 10 Years of Yori Chunsa.
