When I got home after shooting this video, I sat with a feeling I couldn’t quite name.
At first, I thought it was nostalgia. Then I thought it was grief.
Then gratitude. But it was neither. It was the quiet recognition of something I had been chasing for most of my life.
I thought this song was about a person. And maybe part of it is.
The memories are real. The places are real. The love was real.
But somewhere between writing it, living it, and returning to those places to film this video, the meaning changed.
As a child, I used to imagine a life where I could exist without negotiating with myself. A life where love didn’t require hiding. A life where I didn’t have to shrink parts of who I was just to belong. I don’t think I realized it then, but that child wasn’t dreaming about a person. He was dreaming about freedom.
The night we finished shooting, I realized something that caught me off guard.
The life I spent years imagining is no longer somewhere ahead of me. I’m living it.
And after years, there was nothing to chase, nothing to prove, nowhere else to arrive. Just a quiet sense of being exactly where I was meant to be ♥️
