Once the quietest student in the room. Now the one at the front of it.

JayLeesa walked into her JOG class at Glenville High School needing a graduation seal and walked out as class president. From a summer working at NASA with Y.O.U.'s Internship program to mentoring the next generation of Y.O.U. students at MAGNET, her story is what full-circle looks like.

"It's a new experience, and everyone goes through it together." — Lynx, STEP 2026 🎭

This summer, Cleveland teens wrote a play, built the set, and took it on the road. STEP at Cleveland Public Theatre, a Y.O.U. worksite turned eight paid weeks into an original show performed across eight neighborhoods.

Hear from the young artists who made it happen. Full story link in bio.

That’s a wrap on another summer of learning, growth, and career exploration! 🎉

Through Y.O.U.’s internship program, part of our broader work experience programming, young people across Northeast Ohio spent their summers gaining real-world experience, building professional skills, and discovering what their futures could hold.

Our interns at University Circle Inc. spent weeks supporting marketing and community engagement work, creating social media content, conducting interviews, helping with Wade Oval Wednesdays, and collaborating on team projects. Through it all, they grew stronger in communication, teamwork, public speaking, budgeting, and networking.

Naomi shared that one of her favorite lessons was the importance of “the pivot”—staying curious, rolling with change, and finding a new way forward when plans shift. Best of all, the experience helped confirm her dream of building a career in finance and using it to make a real difference. 💼✨

Stories like these are exactly what meaningful internship experiences are all about: real-world opportunities, new skills, and a clearer vision for the road ahead.

Congratulations to ALL of our young people who completed their summer experiences this year! And a heartfelt thank-you to University Circle Inc. and every employer partner, supervisor, and mentor who poured into their growth. We couldn’t do this work without you.💼

Meet Josh — three summers in, and still building.

He showed up as a 10th-grader who liked construction. Today? He's framing walls, leading his peers, and helping build homes for Cleveland families who need them.

From flooring to drywall to fire science dreams , this is what happens when young people get real skills, real mentorship, and a real shot all in partnership with @clehabitat

First up in our new youth spotlight series, Next Up.

💼 💫 Since 1982, Cleveland has been home to an exceptional organization that allows students to truly explore what a job and a career really looks like: Youth Opportunities Unlimited.

We sat down with Valerie Hickey, Ameisha Boykin and Dorothy Curtis to learn what @youcleveland is all about, and why Dollar Bank has fostered such an incredible partnership. Most importantly, listen to this year’s interns and what they have to say about Y.O.U. and its partners like Dollar Bank. by @youcleveland

POV: your summer job was traveling through Narnia, visiting New York, dining on an vintage airplane and you didn't even have to leave Cleveland, Ohio ✨

Our #YOU summer youth employees spent their days at @cocosselfiespace . Ohio largest selfie museum with 70+ hand-built photo worlds packed into the historic 5th Street Arcades in downtown CLE. Mermaids, Narnia, vintage airplanes… every room is a whole new vibe. ✈️

But the real story? Owner Coco Dixon built this place from ONE tiny storefront, turning antiques, relics & upcycled materials into art when the shops around her were closing. Everything here has a story, including the young people learning, creating & connecting with visitors from all over. 💛

Growing more than plants over here 🌱✨

@FoodStrongCLE came through to install planters on our deck and put on an educational presentation about what they're planting AND what they've learned this summer. 🪴

Their mission? Build enduring local food systems + transform under-resourced neighborhoods into thriving, self-sustaining communities. We're just proud to connect Cleveland's young people to partners doing the REAL work. 💚
