I built this shot around one moving spotlight that tracks @cody_ray_lucero through the frame. Minimal setup, but the movement of the light, his shadow and the performance give the shot its own visual identity taken in Los Angeles, California by @youknowyoshi

The chaos is the hook. Their conversation is the story.

Adding a visual hook to a simple performance shot can be the difference between someone scrolling past or stopping to figure out how you did it.

For this shot, D Smoke performs in the foreground while a woman’s silhouette moves as his shadow. We locked the camera, filmed each performance separately, then masked the takes together in post. The flashes help reveal and hide the effect, making the shadow feel like it has a life of its own.
