London • “If it’s not raining, then it’s not London.” - Libby

So happy to be exploring with these peeps and getting to see @micah.treebed’s dimples so much today. Let the fun in the rain begin! (Also. I might need to buy a better raincoat if we’re gonna hang here any longer…) by @youngandalwayshungry

We had the loveliest night at @lovinacalistoga for their special @eikosnapa pop up dinner. 🍣 🍾🩷 @masumi_guerrero looked stunning in her grandmothers kimono, the food and service at Lovina were amazing as always, and the special sake flight was enjoyed by all—even me! 🙃 So grateful for these sweet moments with friends and to Jen for sharing her beautiful home(s) and the amazing story of Lovina Graves Cyrus with us. A night to remember for all of us! 🥰 by @youngandalwayshungry

It’s been quite the year. Looking through all the images from this past year, it’s hard for me to comprehend how much has actually happened in the past 12 months.

I laid in bed this morning and reflected with Micah on what I felt like was a year of so much loss: my grandpa, parents of my dear friends, a tough election, my Oakland A’s…but looking back I am also reminded of how much joy and abundance this year has also brought.

Micah and I have built an incredible community here in Vallejo. I have friends who have beat cancer (again!) and friends who continue to fight. I was awarded my first art grant this year and it’s opened up a whole new path for me as I learn who I am as a creator of spaces, art and connection. I’ve been blessed with work and colleagues who continue to call and provide resources that I can pour into my community and loved ones. I’ve enjoyed some of the most amazing meals cooked by friends, harvested from my own garden that Micah continues to pour his heart into, and been treated to some really special travel experiences I might not have done on my own.

As I tried to put a reel together of all of these memories, I quickly realized that they all won’t fit. And sometimes our pictures only capture the happiest of times…even though our days are filled with moments and memories that are both happy and sad, exciting and predictable, frustrating and inspiring, and so much more. I’m grateful for all of it. I have cried so much this year 😂 it’s actually embarrassing. But they are tears of all the joy, the heartbreak, the frustration, and most of all the gratitude I have felt this year. I am most grateful for the people in my life and the deep conversations and connections I have shared this year. Here’s to more deep connection, slow and thoughtful intention, and lots of grace for all life’s ups and downs. ❤️ Sending you so much love tonight and for all the tomorrows that come. by @youngandalwayshungry

Sweet moments with our Vallejo Fam on Christmas Eve ❤️ Sending you and yours lots of love this holiday season from @treebed_design and me! 🙋🏻‍♀️ by @youngandalwayshungry

Today I will stay grounded in hope. If I’m honest, I am scared and anxious…but I feel more equipped than in 2016 and 2020 to navigate whatever lies ahead. And I am so grateful that my past self accepted the craziness of the past week—with back to back events of beautiful community, laughter of kiddos and friends and the food and warmth of true family. This was exactly what I needed going into this week and I will hold all of that close when I start to let anxiety take control of my mind (yeah…we just watched Inside Out 2 🙃).

Maybe I will plant something today, make something out of clay or buy donuts and hand them out because donuts make me happy…I for sure will hold @treebed_design’s hand and ask for hugs when I need them. These are all the things I can do to take care of myself and things I’ve learned from the last go around. Today I will stay grounded in hope and I will continue to show up with gratitude for this beautiful life and community I’ve worked hard to build and be a part of. 💙 This is my mantra today.

Keep showing up for your peeps, hang in gratitude with me, and eat a donut today. Oh and V O T E like your life and mine depends on it. Stay grounded, sweet peeps. by @youngandalwayshungry

Every time I would go to lunch with my grandpa he would say, “Get what you like!” And I would smile and respond, “You know what, Goongy? I think I will!” And he would beam J O Y. It made him so happy. And that made me so happy.

That’s what he loved: to see “you people” happy. And looking back I am so grateful for how all the moments of happiness we all got to share as a family: multiple trips to China, simple dim sum lunches, listening to all his perfectly delivered jokes (I’m honestly never sure when he practiced these). Goongy made us happy and he talked about how happy we made him in every conversation, every text, every card.

Goongy: This week we celebrate YOU and all the happiness you brought so many people. In celebration, I hope we all can take a moment to honor you and say “Get what you like!”

I think it’s actually a great motto for life. It reminds me to go after what I want in life and to enjoy it! And Goongy’s life was a full one. Today was hard because my ideas of celebrations this week looked a little different after getting sick. But I can hear my grandpas voice telling me now, “Aiya—don’t be silly. We can celebrate any day! I’m retired!” 🥰

So if you and I go out to dinner and I say, “Get what you like!” I hope we can all smile and take a moment to recognize how lucky we are to spend our days together. 🥟 Happy Birthfay, Goongy. 🧇 by @youngandalwayshungry

Spent the most beautiful weekend with the most beautiful bride. No one deserves this warmth (with no humidity) and this light as much as our gal, Merkel.

My Dearest Merkie—you are everything light and loving in this world. Your warmth brings so many of us together and your laughter cracks the hardest parts of us even on some of our darkest days. I have seen you show up for so many of us friends, even when the heaviest rain falls…with that big bag on your shoulder and flimsy flip flops on your teeny feet. ☺️ You are a force and nothing stops you when you set your mind to it. You are one of the most positive people I know and I’m grateful for your friendship, support and sisterhood all these years.

I hope you felt all the love and JOY this weekend—there really is nothing better than witnessing you radiate in all the beautiful light and loving energy. You deserve the very best and I’m so happy you found your person! I know Guy and Savannah will take good care of you and we can’t wait to make more memories with you all again soon. Love you so much, Merkie! 🩷🩷🩷 by @youngandalwayshungry
