Annalee + Woodrow

Got real dirty and mossy for this one. Annalee and Woodrow had a beautiful late spring DIY wedding and it was an honor to do flowers for two people you’d be lucky to call friends. I’ve been lucky like that since I met Woodrow when we were five, and can’t believe I struck gold twice. So many people came together to plan, decorate, cook, photograph, and otherwise make this wedding happen - a testament to how loved they are. Janessa + Somerset 🫐

In June at Woodruff-Fontaine House, Janessa and Somerset got married surrounded by a meadow full of foraged fruit - still-ripening raspberries, wild thistle and grasses gathered on Lamar, blueberries from my backyard, abelia from my best friend’s house, tomatoes from my dad’s garden, grape and cherry tomatoes another friend grew. Bounty and abundance for a truly beautiful couple 🤍

This upcoming Saturday will open our new shows. In Room 4, member @creating.dejamojo will be showing artists Andres Arauz and Abby Meyers. This show is titled, To Get to the Other Side: A Correspondence. The medium used is wheat paste on wood panel.

@_a_correspondence

To Get to the Other Side is a collaborative body of work which considers safety as both destination and condition. The work emerges from lived experiences shaped by violence, including sexual and domestic abuse, and a generational history of displacement and emigration. In this context, safety is not a certain endpoint but a horizon pursued through distance both physical and temporal, conviction, and survival instinct.

Using compositional clusters of found images and confessional free verse poetry wheat-pasted on wood panel, this transit toward sanctuary is considered through proximity and intersection. Each walking figure has been lifted from its own unique and ambiguous context. Their stories—however we may understand them—are reframed or reimagined as they interact with one another and become part of a collective condition, interwoven through fields of first-person memory. By presenting the poem in fragments on the figures’ silhouettes, it becomes another member of this crowd of characters, nodding to the interiority of the people depicted on these panels.

The work considers the crossing of paths as each of us engages in our own movements towards our own refuge; the providence—both seen and unseen—that guides where our bodies go and why; and the record and remembrance of these steps as they accumulate across time. by @your_goomah

Holy shit happy Fetty Day…Can you believe we found each other TEN years ago today. I walked into some adoption day in Boulder, Colorado and came out with the coolest guy in the world. Knew we were family as soon as we saw each other. Brought each other back to life. We’ve been through just about every fuckin thing a girl and her dog could go through…he 86ed a leg, beat the shit out of a scary case of cancer, survived a very bloody dog attack, built a family. When my loser exboyfriend’s loser buddy lost you in the mountains I spent four days hiking all the way up and back down the flatirons til I heard you barking. I’ll never forget coming home after I found you, just before a snow storm rolled in, laying in bed for hours just staring at my puppy. Smelling the earth on your paws. I’d hike as many mountains as I needed to to get to you by @your_goomah
