The future of education isn’t digital. It’s deeply human.

When I founded MAV School of Multiple Intelligence, I chose the harder path. The one without gadgets, but filled with stories, music, arts, and connection.

In a world rushing to digitize childhood, I chose to humanize it.

Because children don’t need more screens. They need space to grow, to imagine, and to lead.

Things I do while living with endometriosis that might only make sense if you live with it too:

🌻Negotiate with myself before cancelling anything. Can I manage a few hours? Sit through the meeting? Finish teaching? Somehow, I still feel I need to justify resting.
🌻Feel more anxious about a different kind of pain than the familiar, awful one. I’m already thinking, “ano na naman to🥺?”
🌻Plan where I can sit and plug in my heating pad before deciding where to spend the rest of my day.
🌻Wear whatever puts the least pressure on my belly. An outfit can look perfectly comfortable and still be impossible for me to wear.
🌻Downplay everything when I finally see my doctor because I happen to feel better that day. Then remember, on the way home, all the moments I should have described.
🌻Show up, work, teach, lead, and smile. Then come home with barely anything left for myself or my family.😢

This is how much space endometriosis takes up in my everyday life, even when nobody can see it.

Some nights remind you just how much you need spaces like these. 🤍

Last weekend was a beautiful reminder of how powerful it is when women come together to share their stories, celebrate their wins, be honest about their lows, and simply show up as they are.

And honestly, in this season of my life, I’ve never needed this kind of community more. There’s something so comforting about being surrounded by women who are committed to growing, lifting each other up, and reminding one another that we don’t have to figure it all out alone.

A big shout-out to @vphcoaching for creating a space where women can connect, feel safe, and grow together. And to @singularmanila , for the amazing food, incredible service, and beautiful space that let us girls unwind, laugh, let loose, and just enjoy being together. The perfect setting for a night like this! 🥂✨

Leaving with a full heart and a reminder that sometimes, growth happens not just through the work we do on ourselves, but through the women we choose to surround ourselves with.

More of this, please. 🌱🤍 by @your_high_nez

An Evening of Expansion and Receiving. ✨
Last Saturday, I attended my first Sisterhood Supper Club. I walked into a room of women I had never met and left with new connections, meaningful conversations, and so much wisdom to reflect on.

As a recovering shy person, even finding the words to introduce myself to strangers was a little exercise in courage. When it was my turn to share, I found myself describing this season of my life as the MOON. Quiet, reflective, sometimes hidden, but still growing in ways that may not be seen. Learning to embrace the quiet, to listen more, to understand myself better, and to trust that growth doesn’t always have to be loud.

But I also shared my hope that, in time, I will expand into being more like the SUN. To shine a little brighter, to step into new spaces with more courage, and to give light to others in whatever way I can. For now, I am learning to receive, more wisdom, more understanding, and the beautiful lessons that come from listening to other women’s stories.

Thank you, Victoria @victoria_herrera @vphcoaching for creating a space where women can gather, be vulnerable, feel heard, and grow together. And to the beautiful women I met, thank you for sharing pieces of yourselves so openly.

I came with an open heart and left with so much more than I expected.

Some days, Sun. Some days, Moon. Both can bring light. ☀️🌙 by @your_high_nez

One of my favorite roles at MAV is being a storyteller.🥰 Occasionally, this also means being the school’s unofficial mascot. 😅

Our Word Smart Celebration gives me a reason to put my theater training to use, playing every character in the book. But what I enjoy most is hearing the children respond as if they, too, are part of the story.☺️🤗💕

Since 2010, our Home Reading Program has been about helping children build a love for reading. Storytelling is my favorite contribution to that work.📚

Have a storybook in mind or a little audience who would love one? My DMs are open.☺️✨ by @your_high_nez

Our hearts were full from genuine conversations and making one another feel seen. 🥹✨🤍 As Carol McCloud reminds us, “When you fill someone else’s bucket, you will fill your own bucket too.”

A ban can set a boundary. But it cannot prepare and protect a child on its own.

In a digital world, families, schools, government and technology platforms all share responsibility.

This is the deeper purpose behind MAV’s gadget-free campus since 2010, not simply removing devices, but protecting children’s presence, relationships and sense of belonging.

Our MAV Advocates are an important part of this. Parents are not just observers, but partners in building consistent boundaries, open conversations and a community of care around every Changemaker.

We believe it takes a village to raise a child. Policies can limit access. But it takes a connected community to help children feel safe enough to speak, seek help, and thrive. by @your_high_nez

Philippine education is evolving, and I believe this is a conversation worth having.

With the recent move away from requiring one prescribed curriculum approach, we are being given an opportunity to ask a question that matters even more than, “What method comes next?”

How do our children learn best?

After years of working with children, teachers, and families, I have learned that there is rarely one answer.

Some learners need to revisit before they can move forward.
Some need to experience a concept before they can understand it.
Some learn through words, others through movement, visuals, collaboration, reflection, music, logic, or discovery.

And different subjects may call for different ways of teaching, too.

This is something we have long tried to honor at MAV School of Multiple Intelligence

Through Multiple Intelligences, MAV Experiential Learning System, and project-based learning, and learning experiences connected to real-world issues and the Sustainable Development Goals, we try to give children more than one way to understand, and more than one opportunity to apply what they know.

Not because one approach is better than every other approach.

But because the method should serve the learner, not the learner serve the method.

Perhaps that is the opportunity before us now.

Not simply to replace one system with another, but to become more intentional about how we design learning, when to revisit, when to go deeper, when to move forward, and when a child may need another way in.

As Philippine education continues to evolve, I hope we keep asking better questions, listening to our educators, looking closely at how children are actually learning, and keeping the learner at the center.

Because ultimately, the measure of a curriculum is not simply how much we are able to cover.

It is what our children are able to understand, carry with them, and use in the world.

When I started MAV, I simply wanted to create a school where children didn’t have to fit into one definition of being smart.

Years later, I still believe in the same things. But I understand my role differently now.

I used to think I was building a school.
Now I realize we are also building a possibility.

A possibility that education can be different. That we can raise children who are academically prepared, yes. But also curious, creative, innovative and empathetic and ready to contribute something meaningful to the world.

This is why I keep asking our changemakers, not only “What do you want to be?” but “What problem will you help solve?”

Because the future of education isn’t about preparing children for a world we already know.
It’s about preparing them to create a better one.

And this is a conversation I hope to keep bringing beyond the walls of Mav School

The future of education is not something we wait for. It is something we build.✨ by @your_high_nez
