It’s hard to think of a caption for this stuff. I have this song I made & I want someone to hear it! It’s sort of a sad song. Definitely reflective. I made a video of me performing it with a few instruments. I made most of it at a ridiculous time at night. That’s when the house is most quiet and nobody is being too rambunctious. I feel less in a hurry at night. I usually suffer the repercussions of exhaustion the following afternoon. Especially as the responsibilities for parenting continue on. But sometimes it’s worthwhile.

Anyways, I’ve titled this song “Afterglow” because that’s the main emphasis and phrase I use through out the song. But actually, there’s probably a million songs called “Afterglow”. So who knows, I might re-title it something else eventually. Maybe like “Meet you in the Afterglow” or “Song Number 138” or “Sad Reflection in the Key of Bb” or something?

So yeah, life has an afterglow and we all experience it. Here’s a song about it. : )

I recently had the idea to try playing some of the songs that I wrote for guitar on my violin instead. And I’m actually pretty excited to see how they translate! The couple I’ve tried already have been really fun! Here’s a rough run through of a chorus of my own song. If you are intrigued about the song, it’s about the push-pull feelings of wanting to be alone, but also not wanting to be alone… also there’s some silly fiddle nonsense at the end. by @yourbarberisaac

This is a song I wrote at a very low time in my life. Sometimes I find it helpful to take videos of myself when I practice!

It’s about that empty feeling you have when nothing seems to fill it. I’ve felt that before and it’s the worst.

This was one of those songs that just sort of came out of the air to me. It helped me process how I was feeling about life. Maybe this song can be a voice for you as well!

I don’t try to write sad songs or angry songs but sometimes they happen. My hope is that, because I know I’m not the only one who has felt these things, that this would be helpful to put words and music to a certain feeling that I think we’ve all felt at some time.

Hey! Happy Father’s Day! I wrote a song a long time ago before my children were born! It’s inspired by the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life”. I struggled to write the song because I wanted it to be more about George Bailey’s daughter. But then as I banged my head against the wall, I realized some of the power of the song would come from focusing on George giving his life to his daughter. I was inspired by how, even at his lowest point in his life, he was serving his family. Now it’s amazing that I am a father myself!

Birthdays and holidays and stuff that are centered around myself are always kind of awkward to me. And I’ve only recently realized maybe one of the reasons why. My wife asks me “what do you want to do for your Father’s Day or for your birthday?” and I usually struggle to answer that question. Yes I do enjoy breakfast and Legos and some other random splurging and frivolity. But what really fills me up is seeing my family smile and have a great time. I enjoy when I have friends and family near me. Oddly enough as I find myself on a stage a lot of the time, I really don’t enjoy the attention.(I do appreciate it, admittedly.. haha) but what makes me actually stoked is to see my people enjoying themselves and having fun. Yeah, it’s cheesy. And ironically, I’m actually pretty introverted so it’s hard for me to invite people into my life on a regular basis. But what fatherhood has revealed to me is that it’s not just the fact that you’re a dad that makes life special, but it’s what you get to do for others.

So anyways… Can’t believe you actually read all of that… If you did, you should comment your favorite Star Wars character or Darth Vader quote since he’s a dad and all… Ha ha
