These were a couple concept sketches before the scrapped first illustration idea. Im leaning back toward this style, only less busy and more traditional Chinese style that i may try to imitate with brush markers for landscape detail. Somewhat undecided. Its been a fun learning experience, thats for sure. Didnt use pencil on these.

Inktober - October 21st - Rhinoceros

Holy freakin 6am. I present to you: Rhinoceros Beetle. (I think its one of the japanese species?) Another fun challenge, this was. Cross hatching hell, this was. And the green shadow is supposed to imply its chillin on a giant leaf. Couldn’t figure out everything that was going on with the eye/face section but I just rolled with it. *pats self on the back*
It was fun drawing all its little fuzzy insect hairs, hehe. Might be extra furry on accident. Cuddly beetle!

Done with mostly 01 Copic multiliners in black, cool grey, wine and a little sepia and olive. Some detail added with Winsor & Newton cool grey fineliner as well. Oh, and a lime green 05 Sakura. Canson XL 154lb 7”x10” fluid mixed media.

The “David Bowie Space Oddity Irish Setter” is finally complete! Been working on this since before Xmas. This is now my third complete acrylic painting ever, as I slowly tackle learning how to paint with acrylic. Not gonna lie, once I started getting to the dog fur, I started getting intimidated BUT I DID NOT GIVE UP. Haha.

I also learned along the way which brush shapes I should incorporate into my brush collection. And started acquiring artist grade paint. It really does make a difference compared to cheap Ross paint! I had a blast painting this epic award winning champion dog for its owner. Would give it to the dog himself, but he may not appreciate it as much.

At one point, I dropped my paintbrush full of silver paint onto the dogs fur LOL. I was so annoyed but also kinda sorta stoked that I could just mix up some paint to cover it up. Yessssss. Also, the background is, as you can see, textured. (Pushing around glops of paint was the only way I could figure out how to paint a ton of perfect little circles LOL. They’re pretty rough in the outer row, before deciding that..) And I misjudged a little, so some parts of the dog were painted over the texture. Tried creating new texture in the fur to semi hide it, but was a little beyond my current skill heh. Have made note of that as well.

Now what in earth shall I paint next…

One time in 2016, I tried to use watercolour paint. Needless to say, I didn’t continue because I had no patience, BUT I did end up with these two pretty cool “real life” Pokemon paintings. The Leafeon I used semi moist watercolour paint and the Pikachu I used dry watercolour paints. Was a fun experiment, but I think alcohol and ink are more for me. And acrylic paint. May revisit again though. 😊

Inktober 2026 - Day 31 - Flex

My biggest flex right now is that I have officially completed my first 31 day Inktober challenge! Great work, everyone!!! That started to get exhausting but it was SO FUN! Look at all the epic and fun art we all created! ✨⭐️😊💜

To conclude my cat-themed Inktober, i figured I’d draw my favourite feline! She’s flexing her solid 24 karat gold Gucci necklace and the fact that Inktober is COMPLETE! Yaaaaaaaaaay

I used a combo of Ohuhu Liquid fineliners and Uni Pin fineliners 💜💜⭐️⭐️✨✨🌈🌈

Happy Halloween, everybody!

Inktober 2026 - Day 30 - Cookie

Sorry this one was a quickie! Halloween is an extremely busy work week for me, with 4 Halloween performances in 3 days. 😅 I did have fun drawing a small plate of cookies that look like my cat’s face though! And i finally messed around with the Ohuhu coloired fineliners I got recently. Combined em with various Ohuhu Liquid Fineliners and one Derwent grey fineliner, haha. One day left, fellow Inktoberers!!!
