We envision a Michigan where all children have the opportunity to thrive.

With quite a few new people following along recently, we thought it was a good time to share a little more about the Children's Foundation of Michigan. Our work centers on one goal: creating more opportunities for Michigan's young people to thrive. We do that by connecting generosity with the needs of children and the organizations that serve them. Sometimes that means providing grants to support important work happening in communities today. Other times, it means building permanent sources of funding so kids have the resources to continue that work for generations to come. And while our work takes many forms, it's all about making a meaningful difference in the lives of Michigan's kids. Here's a little more about who we are, how we work and the role we can all play in creating a better future for young people. by @yourchildrensfoundation

Some of the most important work happens before a new program ever serves its first person. It takes planning, people, partnerships, and resources to turn an idea into care that communities can count on. Through grants to @cnsmichigan and MiSide_detroit, the Children’s Foundation of Michigan is helping turn promising approaches into sustainable programs that can better serve young people and families affected by substance use disorder. Meeting an immediate need matters, but creating support that lasts does, too. Finding the right help shouldn't be another barrier to recovery. For young people and families affected by substance use disorder, getting support isn't always straightforward. The right care needs to consider more than substance use alone, including mental health, housing, family responsibilities, and stage of life. Through grants to CNS Healthcare and MiSide, the Children’s Foundation of Michigan is helping develop new approaches to care that meet young Michiganders where they are and create lasting support. A big congratulations with chili, mustard and onions on top to @theconeydetroit Detroit Homecoming alumni @marcevanjackson, @real_timmeadows, @detroitcreativityproject, and @yourchildrensfoundation of Michigan. The first-ever Coney event followed this year's Homecoming and raised $2.7M for youth arts in the city. The Coney brought back funny and talented former Detroiters for a comedy show that Marc was inspired to create after attending Homecoming, and then last year, he connected with Andrew Stein at a dinner hosted by @skillmanfoundation during Homecoming. The rest is history! The Children's Foundation has wasted no time, and already opened up grant applications for city arts organizations to use the funds. Grants will support: • Arts Infrastructure • Arts-Based Experiences • Teaching Artists Funding ranges from $5,000–$75,000, based on organization size. The Homecoming program is all about inspiring action and investment in your hometown. Our first Coney was one for the books. $2.7M raised—and counting—for youth arts programs across Detroit. Still pretty incredible to say. This quick recap only scratches the surface of the fun, generosity and energy that made the night so special. And trust us, there’s plenty more where this came from. To everyone who showed up, gave, sponsored, performed, volunteered and helped bring The Coney to life: thank you, thank you, thank you. Detroit showed up in a BIG way. More moments, more photos and more Coney memories to come. by @yourchildrensfoundation

The night before the show we caught up with several supporters of #TheConey, including Lorron James, @yourchildrensfoundation (CFMI) Board of Trustees member and owner/CEO of @jamesgroupintl (also a generous sponsor). He shared his thoughts on the important work CFMI does, as well as his excitement to meet one of his favorites from his childhood. by @yourchildrensfoundation
Every parent wants to give their child a healthy start. Sometimes, getting there takes someone willing to walk alongside them. Through our $50,000 partnership with @thelukeclinic we're helping families stay connected to well-child visits, immunizations, and the resources they need during baby's first year. Because access to care isn't just about having a place to go. It's about having the support and trust to keep coming back.
