part 2 of our super-sized episode about ‘Remain In Light’ by Talking Heads is up now! we dig into Brian Eno’s influence and how he and David Byrne brought out the best and worst in one another, the ways the band changed from their minimalist, punk origins, the growing schisms between band members, and how Remain In Light became a ground-breaking, enduring masterpiece that managed to transcend rock, disco and funk music at a time when fans of each couldn’t be further apart. also, is Ryan currently in the woods? maybe! listen now wherever you get your podcasts! by @yourdadsrecordcollection

take a look at these podcast hosts…TAKE A LOOK AT THESE PODCAST HOSTS, as we dive into 1980’s seminal, ‘Remain In Light,’ by Talking Heads. this episode was so big, so important to people (it’s me, Scotty, i am people) that we had to split it into two parts. in part 1, we delve into the art school origins of this band of misfit oddballs, how they made their way to NYC, and how the crucible of the Lower Eastside of New York in the 1970’s gave birth to the punk scene. check out the episode today!
*parts 1&2 currently up on our Patreon!! go to Patreon.com and subscribe to get ‘em both now!!* by @yourdadsrecordcollection

*hey y’all, guess what? we are starting a new MINI-SERIES!! “Lost in the 80’s” will cover some artists who found themselves out of place in our chosen decade, and wondering if they were over-the-hill has-beens, only to see them come together Avengers style to form one of the greatest super groups in music history: The Traveling Willburys!*

Kicking things off, we take a look at the career of Roy “the Boy” Orbison with our special guest, “Tipp” @kippriley!

Sometimes you want to be a rock ’n’ roll star; other times you want to race a motorbike across a golf course and break your leg. Sometimes you try to be Elvis Presley; other times you forget your Coke-bottle glasses, wear your prescription sunglasses onstage instead, accidentally invent your signature look, and reportedly get called back for encore after encore while opening for the Beatles.

Hear about Roy’s journey to finding his sound, the many highs, tragic lows, and colorful cars of his career, and how he found himself feeling nearly irrelevant by the time the 80’s rolled around. We discuss his late career resurgence, and the lasting impact of his unique voice and vulnerability. Jump in your pink Cadillac and listen along today! by @yourdadsrecordcollection

It’s finally here. The much awaited, eagerly anticipated, totally lives up to the expectation, Billy Joel episode! The Hot Takes ooze forth from this episode, in typical YDRC fashion.

We’re joined by @starcourt_music bandmate Max (who also releases amazing music, under @wtrmnstr / Water Monster!) to discuss the journey that The Piano Man has had - the why’s and how’s of how he expresses his emotions, or lack thereof.

Hopefully, we add a new take to it, as this was recorded right after the documentary came out on HBO. It’s a good watch!

Thanks for listening! by @yourdadsrecordcollection

When you’re young, you don’t realize that you’re taking everything in & that it’s shaping you, informing you....hurting you. It took the world’s first emo band (we declared it, therefore it’s true) to reach down into the abyss of the soul, take everything & release the hurting in a primal scream.

Gosh, that sounds intense. Well, Roland Orzabal & Curt Smith were intense! & join us today as we chart that intense success with our first ‘TFF’ episode! (Pronounced “tiff-fuh”)

Toto were some of the best musicians of their (or any) day. Some critics were less appreciative of their polished, pop-rock. hear more in our “Toto IV” episode!

how did Prince go from a hyper-talented, niche funk artist to massive, pop superstar? it all started with a disastrous gig opening for The Rolling Stones.
