Coinbase (@coinbase ) had a pop-up in Washington DC with the Phish Net food truck. The food truck served free food with a side of scam prevention with sharing facts like:

🐻#1: bear spray. If you’re hiking, you’ll want it, and you can grab it at a bunch of shops in town.

🚗#2: Uber and Lyft aren’t allowed in Banff. So you’ll want to book airport shuttles ahead of time and rely on public transit once you’re there, which is actually super reliable for the main spots.

Would you rather use a username or a phone number?

Your phone number is tied to so many things beyond texting, and somehow we’re all just casually handing out our phone numbers. That’s why I’m excited that WhatsApp (@whatsapp) is rolling out a new usernames feature so you can connect with people without having to share your phone number.

People have to know your exact username - so I’d choose something unique - and use username key to message you, if you choose to set one up for added privacy. They’re letting people reserve their usernames now before they roll out the feature later this year, so, I would grab yours!

🐎🌳 This might be one of the best weekend trips from DC, and you don’t even need a car.

On July 4th, Virginia250 celebrates America’s 250th birthday at Colonial Williamsburg offering a front-row seat to the nation’s founding era.

There’s a direct $25 train (or ~2.5 hour drive) that drops you right in Colonial Williamsburg, which is the largest living history museum in the U.S., There’s blacksmiths, horse-drawn carriage, and tradespeople recreate daily life from the 1700s in real time.

Then grab lunch at King’s Arms Tavern, where they still serve dishes inspired by 18th century recipes, and wander through town. At night, stay in town for fireworks because Colonial Williamsburg and VA250 are hosting a huge Fourth of July celebration for America’s 250th birthday with fireworks, live programming, and festivities.

🏛️✨A new underground museum just opened beneath the Lincoln Memorial! @nationalmallnps @thenationalmall

Hidden under the Lincoln Memorial is the Undercroft that hasn’t been open in over a century. After years of restoration, the museum is reopening tomorrow!

The construction of the new Undercroft was a $70 million project supported by public-private partnership with federal funding from NPS and private donations from the National Park Foundation and the Trust for the National Mall.

The Trust also supports this new site, and sites across the Mall, with our VIP Volunteers who help NPS rangers welcome and guide visitors.

Once you’re inside, there’s a movie projected on the Undercroft, a Museum about how the Memorial was built, and the original Emancipation Proclamation and 13th Amendment documents on display.
