Except I broke the budget on this one 🫢
And that’s why I always add buffers to budgets
For the exceptions and not the norm

What’s with the up charge with anything prefixed with “wedding”?
Dayum!!
…that’s annoying

Or is this the new going rate?
It’s been a miiiiinute since I’ve stepped into a nail salon

These nails were double what I budgeted
From $100 ⟶ $222
🫪

Never in my life have I paid this amount for nails alone

Ive also never had nail art

And, we only get married once … (hopefully 🤭)

I loved em and think they nailed it …. get it 💅🏽 🫣

I liked the tech
The atmosphere
And the experience

They accommodated my request as initially I booked an appt for cat eye nails
And I received no attitude
(youknowwhatimean)

Overall 10/10 by @yourembodimentpracticeguide

We’re not doing a big production
But there’s still a lot to do!
I’m pooped 💩

Not pictured::
-charge car
-pick up dry cleaning
-water plants
-take recycles (got $14.75, burrito money!)
-clean car interior (it was hot 🥵)

Today’s wedding fest cost:
-eyebrows: $44
-hair: $100
Total: $144

The very first purchase of my #weddingonabudget

JADON ARCADIA
LEATHER PLATFORM BOOTS

I’m not a heels girlie
I’ve had my doc martens Delphine oxblood red beauties for nearly 10 years
They’re pretty worn out

And I’ve been eyeing this platform boot for sooooooooome time

I just needed the reason 🙃

So instead of trying to wear heels I know I’d take off within an hour

Or other flats that will probably just live in my closet gathering dust

I decided to go with what *I* wanted 💁🏽‍♀️

And will wear over and over again
Getting good use of my hard earned cash

And, with that decision, these boots will forever remind me of when I married the #loml

Hopefully get to use them for another 10+ years

And these platforms??
make me feel tall and powerful
I want to stomp and kick
Like a total baddie 💥

Boot total: $210 + tax

Given that my latest focus on this page is #moneyskills and I am your #embodiment practice guide
I thought I’d share the cost and journey of this special chapter in my life 💜

Weddings are one of the biggest expenses that are normalized 👰🏽‍♀️

“Everyone does it”… right?

I felt a lot of internal pressure to have a “traditional” wedding 🫣
But I quickly acknowledged that that was the programming
“What I was expected to do”

So, here are my thoughts::

They are absurdly expensive
Thousands of dollars—minimum

And don’t get me wrong
The production
All of it can be beautiful 🤩
To celebrate love and a union in that way
To each their own 🫰🏽

I wanted one too many flowers
EVERYWHERE

I LOVE DETAILS
…details quickly add up

The venue I wanted alone was 2k
+ food
+ drink
+ every thing else that goes into a production

All of it was adding up to an irrational amount
For where we are in our lives right now

Post-masters debt
THIS CRUMBLING ECONOMY

And, both of us are entirely introverted and not the biggest fan of the limelight

We are not wealthy
And have other financial goals that take priority
We want to start with a strong foundation
Not in a deficit

So, very much my steeze
My wedding ..isn’t gonna be much of a wedding

BUT we are celebrating our union
In a way that made sense to our lives right now

When we would talk about it
We realized the “traditional” way doesn’t really feel like *us*

We’d be putting on a mask
And a show
For the humans we wanted with us
But that wasn’t really genuine to us

It wasn’t embodied

So, we decided on celebrating in a less traditional way
Doing things differently
In a way that felt good to us —and our pockets
That fit within our financial goals

I still made all the mood boards
Bc I love me a good collage

So check out this week’s posts where I share a little personal finance choices on getting married on a budget

On Halloween weekend, because ever since we got engaged, we knew we wanted to get married on Halloween 🎃

I’ll take feelings of inadequacy for 300 😮‍💨

Anybody’s brain also operate like this?
I’ve long felt I need a communication coach …

Maybe I just need to own it 🤌🏽

I AM quirky and spunky 🫦

What social skills? 🫠

We’re doing work on YouTube, tell a friend 💸 by @yourembodimentpracticeguide

I had a negative emotion cursing through me most of the day
And despite my efforts, it persisted

So I asked the cards
And @rachael.amber ‘s words came through
As the always do

The fool
But her interpretations
Always, always

Strike a chord.

So I decided to memorialize it on my #hobonichi
