#ad STILL OUT HERE FINDING THE ANSWERS TO “WHAT HAPPENS TO OUR RECYCLING AFTER IT LEAVES THE CURB!! 👀”

As part of my ongoing collaboration with @askHRgreen, I got a chance to follow the journey again… this time with President and Owner Michael “Recycle” Benedetto to get a closer look at what REALLY happens behind the scenes of TFC Recycling.

From the moment materials arrive at the facility to the sorting, separating, and processing that follows, there’s a whole lot happening behind the scenes to give these everyday items an opportunity at a second life.

And one of my biggest takeaways? WHAT WE DO AT HOME MATTERS!

Recycling isn’t just about tossing something into a bin and hoping for the best. Knowing WHAT can be recycled, keeping contaminants out, and following your local recycling guidelines all play a role in helping the entire system work more efficiently.

I love opportunities like this because they help connect the dots between our everyday habits and the larger systems working to create a more sustainable Hampton Roads.

Huge thanks to Michael and the TFC Recycling team for opening their doors, sharing their knowledge, and showing us what happens beyond the bin!

♻️ RECYCLE RIGHT. REDUCE WASTE. MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

Imagine A Day Without Water- A short film by Jarrell Williams.

Imagine waking up, ready to start your day, only to realize one of the things you take for granted most is suddenly gone.

No coffee. No clean dishes. No shower. No watering the plants… that’s just to name a few.

Water is woven into just about everything we do, from the moment we wake up to the moment we lay our heads down at night. And it’s easy to forget just how essential it is until we imagine life without it.

So today, tomorrow & everyday… take a moment to appreciate the water flowing from your tap.

Use it wisely. Don’t waste it. And remember that protecting our water resources starts with the everyday choices we make.

Because a day without water isn’t just inconvenient. It literally changes EVERYTHING.

💡Imagine a Day Without Water. What would your day look like?

Heidi, you did an immaculate job putting together this beautiful and uplifting experience! You said, let’s spread JOY and that’s exactly what was felt in every space. 100/10 would recommend to do 1,000x again ✨💫

#ad 💧 There’s something pretty humbling about realizing just how much we DON’T know about the things we depend on most. Water is one of those things.

We wake up, brush our teeth, make our coffee, wash our clothes, cook our meals, water our plants... and rarely give a second thought to the fact that we have access to clean drinking water at the turn of a faucet.

It’s a privilege that’s become so routine that it’s almost invisible.

But behind that convenience is an entire world of infrastructure, science, environmental stewardship, and dedicated professionals working to make it possible.

My recent visit to @newportnewswaterworks Harwood’s Mill Water Treatment Facility, along with askHRgreen’s Defender of Every Drop, Hydro Joe, was a reminder that some of the most important work happening in our communities is also some of the least visible.

And as someone who cares deeply about our natural resources, experiences like this only strengthen my belief that the more we understand where our resources come from, the more intentional we become about protecting them.

That’s really what this experience left me thinking about… Not just how water gets to us, but how we choose to value it once it does.

So here’s a little challenge💦: Be mindful of how much water you use today. Fix that dripping faucet, turn off the tap when you don’t need it, and remember that conservation is something we can ALL participate in.

Huge thanks to @askHRgreen and Hardwood’s Mill Water Treatment Plant for the opportunity to see this work firsthand!

Can’t wait to hug you all tomorrow 🫂💟 by @yourfriendjarrell

When you live a life full of gratitude it’s hard to have bad days.

Every moment in my life is a reminder of just how beautiful it is and how much I want this for EVERYONE.

Of course there are moments where things happen that are less than savory, however instead of harp on them, doubling down the frustration or anger I transmute those emotions and IMMEDIATELY peel back the layers.

8 mins is a “longer” video for the feed but I had a lot to get off my chest in celebration of this life. My hope is that this black boy joy will bring a smile to your face and maybe inspire you to look at life a little differently.

Happy Friday!

Hope you are all doing well 🙌🏾

I thought about getting on here to air frustrations around a citation I got from the city🙅🏾‍♂️… BUT instead I felt my time would be better suited channeling it into letting my community know I am looking for opportunities, places and spaces to host some of my grounding terrarium workshops.

While coordinating and scheduling paid workshops is always appreciated, I want to continue to be a resource for my community. In serving as a liaison for people to help them slowdown, reconnect with nature, themselves this work helps to peel back layers of life that may cause feelings of stress, anxiety, depression, etc.

Just to recap… looking for places and spaces to set up PAY WHAT YOU WANT workshops. If this is of interest please reach out, I’d love to chat.

If you have not had an opportunity to experience one of my workshops, I’ll be sharing some clips and photos in my story. In addition, I would love to invite you all to pull up on me during the upcoming @lovesongsonsundays festival this Sunday October 18 at Melanin Meadows, it’s going to be another beautiful display of what an intentional community looks like.

Thanks and as always ✌🏾♥️
