Relocating from South Carolina to Jacksonville Beach, Florida—with three weeks to move. No pressure, right? 🎢

A new job was waiting, and her number one lifestyle priority was beach walks with her dog. 🐾🌊 Finding a home within walking distance of the beach was high on the list.

Kristen and I stopped by the former Santa Maria spot on the St. Augustine bayfront and it’s finally getting ready for a new chapter.

The Wharf is planned to open at 135 Avenida Menendez in November, in time for Nights of Lights. The plans call for coastal dining, an oyster bar, and dock space for people arriving by boat. That last part definitely has my attention. ⛵

If you remember Santa Maria, tell me: did you go for the food, the view, or to feed the fish? And what are you hoping The Wharf brings to the waterfront?

October in St. Augustine is when my friends up north start sending sweater-weather photos, and I’m still deciding whether I have time to get to the beach.

That doesn’t mean every day is a vacation. There are errands, traffic, work, and the occasional “why did I try to drive downtown right now?” moment. But being able to end an ordinary day by the water? That part never gets old.

Fall in St. Augustine doesn’t require a sweater. It does, however, require a pumpkin. 🎃

Our fall bucket list starts with the corn maze and hayrides at Sykes Family Farms, then pumpkin picking and the handmade market at Wesley Wells Farms. Add a cooler morning beach walk, coffee at Southern Grounds and dinner outside at Catch 27 without melting, and don’t forget a cocktail at Pesca Rooftop in VilanoI’d call that a pretty good season.
