We’re making Main State for a woman who already has enough tabs open. Work, errands, social life, wellness…

She cares about how she looks, how she feels, what she buys and what it’s made from.

Our job is to make getting dressed a little easier.

Pieces that can take her through more than one part of her day. That work with the wardrobe she already owns. That feel good enough to keep on without looking like she forgot to get changed.

Fewer pieces. More use out of them. Less changing. Less unnecessary admin.

She has other things to think about.

Apparently buying activewear now comes with coursework.

Fabric blends. Technical fibres. Performance finishes. Certifications. Claims that somehow explain everything and nothing at the same time.

We’re not against knowing what you’re buying.

We’re against needing an evening, three tabs open and a minor identity crisis to figure it out.

We think it should be much simpler than that.

Tell you what it’s made from. Tell you why we chose it. Let you get on with your day.

We don’t want to make more activewear that only makes sense within a 500 metre radius of a Pilates studio.

We want pieces that work for the class, then still make sense with the coat, the bag, the shoes and whatever else the day has decided to throw at you.

Because changing your entire outfit after 45 minutes of exercise feels a little excessive.

Less gym kit. More wardrobe.

Apparently activewear is for all day now.

Which would be great if it didn’t still look very much like activewear.

You leave Pilates feeling productive, hydrated and deeply pleased with yourself, then suddenly remember you have lunch somewhere that has actual napkins.

This is why Main State is being designed to work beyond the gym too.

Wear it to move. Throw a coat over it. Add proper shoes. Carry on with your day without feeling like you forgot to get dressed.

Because sometimes Pilates is at 8.

Activewear would like to be invited everywhere now.

The gym. Coffee. Work. Lunch. The school run. Dinner.

Very ambitious for something that still quite often looks like it has a spin class at 6.

And then there’s the slightly strange part where an industry built around wellness somehow landed on polyester and nylon as the default.

We think the category can do better.

Better materials. Better clothes. Less changing your entire outfit because you exercised (or “exercised”) for 45 minutes that morning.

Activewear that belongs in your wardrobe, rather than in a separate little gym clothes department of your life.

A LITTLE MILESTONE TODAY.

It’s been exactly one month since we had to postpone the reveal of our first drop.

We thought this would be a short delay.

Cute.

One month later, we are pleased to confirm that the mystery remains very much alive.

We promise there is, in fact, a product.

We miiight’ve gotten a little ahead of ourselves.

Our first ever Main State piece is still on its way to us, and we don’t want to reveal it properly until we’ve actually held the final thing in our hands.

So the date is moving.

Not disappearing.

And this time, we’re waiting until it’s here before we give you another one.
