⚠️ 2 THINGS THAT MAY BE HURTING YOUR MILK SUPPLY

💜 SKIPPING FEEDS WITHOUT REMOVING MILK

Milk production works on supply and demand. If baby gets a bottle and you regularly skip nursing or pumping, your body may begin making less milk.

✨ When separated from baby, try to pump around the time they would normally feed.

💜 POOR MILK TRANSFER

Baby can nurse frequently without removing milk effectively. A shallow latch, tongue restriction, or sleepiness at the breast may limit milk transfer and affect supply.

Watch for nipple pain, few swallows, very sleepy feeds, or concerns with diapers and weight gain.

Cookies, teas, and supplements can’t replace frequent, effective milk removal through nursing, pumping, or both. 🤱🏻🥛

💬 Save and share with a breastfeeding mama who needs this! 🫶🏼✨ by @yourmilkplug

One of the biggest misconceptions I see is moms stressing themselves out trying to build a 3-month freezer stash before maternity leave ends.

The truth? Most moms only need enough milk for baby’s first day away from them.

After that, the milk you pump at work today is typically the milk your baby drinks the next day. ✨

Your success isn’t measured by how many ounces are in your freezer.
It’s measured by having a plan that protects your milk supply:
🤍 Pump when baby would normally eat.
🤍 Store what you pump.
🤍 Feed that milk the following day.
🤍 Repeat.

Could you build a larger stash if you wanted to? Absolutely! But it’s not a requirement for a successful breastfeeding journey after returning to work.

If this took a little weight off your shoulders, save this for later and send it to another working mama who needs the reminder. 🫶🏼💜

✨ Three things I learned after breastfeeding two babies 🤍👇🏼

1️⃣ Trust your instincts. 🤍🫶🏼
Both of my boys were tongue-tied. Even though I was told everything looked fine, I knew something wasn’t right. If your gut is telling you something feels off, keep asking questions and advocating for your baby. 💪🏼✨

2️⃣ Every breastfeeding journey is different. 🌸🤱🏼
Even with the same mama, no two journeys look alike. My first son self-weaned at 22 months, while my second is 3 years old and still happily nursing. 🥹🤍 There is no “normal” timeline.

3️⃣ A lactation consultant is worth it—every single time. 👩🏼‍⚕️✨
Even as someone who now works in lactation, I still leaned on an IBCLC in those early weeks with both of my boys. The reassurance, support, and education were absolutely priceless. 🤍🌿

🫶🏼 Every baby is different. Every mama is different. Every breastfeeding journey deserves support, encouragement, and grace. 💜✨

🤍 Save this for a mama who needs the reminder that you don’t have to figure it all out alone. 🌸🍼✨

I thought I was doing everything right …

I was exclusively breastfeeding my newborn, but I didn’t know he wasn’t transferring enough milk because of an undiagnosed tongue tie 🥵

One week later, we were in the NICU. 🥺

As a first-time mom, I blamed myself. Looking back, I know this may have been prevented with the right breastfeeding education and early lactation support. 🌿

That experience changed the course of my life and is the reason I became a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist and Lactation Counselor. ✨🤱

If sharing our story helps even one mama feel less alone or recognize the signs sooner, then every vulnerable moment is worth it. 🫶🏼🤍

I hope our story encourages you today. 🕊️💜 by @yourmilkplug

☀️ Breastfeeding in the summer? ⬇️🤍

If you’re exclusively breastfeeding, your baby does not need extra water—even on hot summer days. Breast milk is about 87% water, making it the perfect source of hydration.

You may notice your baby wanting to nurse more often when it’s hot outside. That’s completely normal! Many babies naturally take shorter, more frequent feeds to stay hydrated.

And for my breastfeeding toddler moms… yes, breast milk is still providing hydration, nutrition, and comfort. 🥹🤍

A few summer reminders:
💦 Nurse on demand.
☀️ Keep baby cool and out of direct sun when possible.
🫶 Stay hydrated yourself—you deserve that water bottle too!

You’ve got this, mama. Enjoy those summer memories knowing your milk was designed with your baby in mind. 💜

✨PSA: For healthy, exclusively breastfed babies under 6 months, breast milk provides all the hydration they need—even in hotter months. BUT, if your baby is showing signs of dehydration (fewer wet diapers, unusual sleepiness, dry mouth, or other symptoms), don’t assume it’s just the heat—reach out to your pediatrician!

Save this to come back to all summer long! ☀️🤱 by @yourmilkplug

This is the question I’m getting most now that my son is a three and to be honest? It does not help me come up with an exit plan in the slightest 😂✨🧐

Here’s the deal: every breastfeeding journey is different ⌛️

Some babies nurse for a few weeks, some for months, and some for years. None of those timelines determine how good of a mom someone is ✨

Instead of asking when a mama is going to stop, try asking:

💜 “How’s it going?”
💜 “How can I help?”
💜 “How are YOU doing?”

Whether a mom nurses for one day or one thousand days, the decision to wean should be between her, her baby, and (if she chooses) her family/lactation team.

Let’s normalize supporting moms instead of putting a timeline on their journey. 🤱✨

Run a 5K for America ✨🇺🇸❤️🤍💙

…while I give you 3 reasons why it’s MORE than okay to exercise while breastfeeding! 🤱🏃‍♀️

1️⃣ Exercise benefits BOTH your body and your mind. ❤️
Regular movement can boost your mood, increase energy, reduce stress, and support overall health during the postpartum season.

2️⃣ Exercise does NOT decrease your milk supply. 🥛✨
For most moms, exercise has no ❌ negative effect on milk production or breast milk quality. The biggest priorities are staying hydrated, eating enough calories, and nursing or pumping based on your baby’s needs.

3️⃣ Taking care of YOU helps you take better care of your baby. 💕
A stronger, healthier, happier mama is better equipped to care for everyone around her ✨ Sometimes you just need to feel like something other than a human milk 🥛 machine 🐄 by @yourmilkplug
