Vessels - Postcard #1 💌

Hey there. It’s me. I really do hope you’re well and life is gentle for you.

The documentary is in what I call the second discovery phase. The first discovery is the experience (production) and the second is mapping out where everything goes and where everything fits. Like a giant puzzle. Most of what I captured I couldn’t even dream of storyboarding.

The process is slower than l’d like, l’ve only really managed to look back through the footage again 3 days ago. The food poisoning I experienced in Japan indirectly helped spotlight something else happening in my body. Honestly it’s been exhaustive since I landed.

Investigative doc appointments, my own brain and other quite difficult adversities makes it hard to stay consistent. Makes it hard to ignore imposter syndrome as it rears its ugly head. The process isn’t perfect. But I’m proud that it’s moving. That I’m moving.

In a weird way, I feel everything will only add to this story as it becomes something of its own creation. Art can be so strange like that, taking its own form from its creator.
Becoming its own Vessel.

Things I can add to the future dad lore:
• Conducted an alpine rescue in avalanche terrain
• Aquaplaned a bathtub of a van in the Fjordlands
• Froze my 35mm over in a blizzard
• Swam in a 1 degree gorge
• Shredded across the Southern alps in a Cessna

Probably a lot more than that too.
