Spring is my favourite time of year to get dressed. 🌼

I love bringing colour into my wardrobe and playing with different prints, textures and accessories.

And what makes shopping for colour so much easier is knowing my colours.

When I found this top, I pulled out my personalised colour swatch and could see how beautifully the colours worked within my palette. I also knew the shape worked for my body, it felt like my personal style, and I could picture how I’d wear it with pieces I already own.

So I wasn’t just buying a pretty top because I liked it.

I knew it would work for me and my wardrobe.

I know I say it a lot, but knowledge really is power when it comes to personal style. 🙌🏻

Understanding your colours, your body shape and your personal style gives you practical tools you can come back to every time you shop or get dressed.

So, if you feel like you’re missing some of this knowledge when it comes to your own personal style, send me a DM. I’d love to help you. 💛 x

I don’t think we talk enough about how transformative personal style can actually be.

And the conversation I had with my client today really brought this home for me.

I believe investing in your personal style is about raising the bar for yourself. And I say that not only as a stylist, but as someone who has experienced that transformation for myself.

It’s deciding that you don’t just want to make do with clothes that are fine, or settle for dressing in a way that doesn’t make you feel good or reflect who you are.

You want to put more thought and care into yourself.

You want your wardrobe to support who you are, the life you live and the way you want to feel when you walk into a room.

My client said to me today that she wants to be able to walk into a room, set that first impression and have her clothes say something about who she is without having to say a word.

Not because she wants people to notice her clothes.

But because she wants what she wears to feel like an authentic expression of her.

And I think there comes a point where you realise that wanting that for yourself isn’t frivolous or superficial.

There’s something incredibly powerful about deciding that you are worth the time, the thought and the investment.

That you don’t have to keep settling for good enough.

You’re allowed to raise the bar.

To want more from your wardrobe, and to expect more from the way you feel in your clothes.

Not for anyone else.

For you. 💗 by @yourstylewithbec

For years, I assumed it wasn’t a colour for me, so I never really explored it in my wardrobe.

That was until I trained in colour analysis and discovered that I actually have four different yellows in my colour palette, and that little piece of information completely changed the way I looked at the colour. 💥

I opened myself up to exploring it and began adding yellow into my wardrobe. And today, it’s one of my core colours and a really recognisable part of my personal style. I love it and wear it all the time.

Training in colour analysis has given me the knowledge to explore colour with so much more confidence.

When I’m shopping for myself, I have my digital colour swatch with me on my phone. I know which yellows work beautifully with my colouring, and I can see exactly what other colours in my palette I can pair them with.

And it’s what I love most about understanding your colours, because it opens your wardrobe and personal style up to so many possibilities. 🙌🏻

Colour analysis is one of the components we explore as part of my Style Starter Experience, along with discovering your personal style and understanding your body shape.

Together, they give you a strong foundation for understanding your personal style on a much deeper level.

So if you’re ready to understand your colours and explore what else is possible for your wardrobe, send me a DM, or you can find all the details about my Style Starter Experience via the link in my bio. 💛 taken in Adelaide, South Australia by @yourstylewithbec

Slowly building a collection of pieces I genuinely love wearing has become such a fun part of my own personal style.

I’m also always very happy to share a beautiful small business like @moods.by.a when I find one I love. 🥰

How good are compliments from strangers? 🥰

I was chatting to one of my clients on the phone this afternoon, and she shared something with me that put a huge smile on my face.

A couple of weeks ago, we did a Mix & Match Session together. We created new outfit combinations from her wardrobe and identified a couple of gaps that would help her create even more from what she already owned.

Since then, she’s purchased a couple of those pieces herself and has been putting everything we worked on into practice.

And today she told me she’s been getting compliments on her outfits from lots of different people.

How good is that? 😍

Especially because just a few weeks ago, she wasn’t feeling confident getting dressed.

I’m genuinely invested in the women I work with, so hearing that she’s enjoying getting dressed and feeling good in what she’s wearing makes me so happy.

And now we have a shopping session booked in a few weeks.

I can’t wait. 💗 x taken in Adelaide, South Australia by @yourstylewithbec

The jacket is wearing me. Before you notice me, you notice the pink.

I bought this jacket years ago because I loved it. After all, I love pink. It’s my favourite colour, and the style, shape and fit all work well for me.

But now that I understand colour on a much deeper level, I can look at this photo and see something I couldn’t see when I bought it.

It’s very bright and creates a lot of contrast against my natural colouring, so rather than everything working together, the jacket is entering the room before I do. 😅

And don’t get me wrong, there are absolutely times when you might want the jacket to be the star. You might love a colour so much that you couldn’t care less whether it’s technically one of your best. And I’m all for wearing clothes that bring you joy.

But now I understand why this particular pink doesn’t feel quite as harmonious on me.

When I wear colours that work with my natural colouring, you see me as a whole. My clothes are still interesting, colourful and very much my style, but they don’t compete with me.

And for me, that’s the difference.

Colour analysis hasn’t made my wardrobe more restrictive.

It’s given me the knowledge to understand why some colours make me shine, while others seem to shine before I do.

And I love having that knowledge when I’m choosing what to wear.

If you’d love to understand which colours work in harmony with your natural colouring, this is exactly what we explore in a Virtual Colour Analysis with me. My DMs are always open if you’d like to know more. 💗 taken in Adelaide, South Australia by @yourstylewithbec

I’m doing a happy dance over here because I’ve FINALLY found a pair of white denim jeans I LOVE.

These are @serafina_australia Signature Barrel Leg Jean in the white denim. I am 170cm tall and wearing the regular in a size 12.

They are so soft and stretchy (98% cotton, 2% Elastane) and will be on high rotation for me now through Spring and Summer.

For me they are 10/10 and I highly recommend.

You can shop them in store and online now and use ‘BECSTYLIST20’ at checkout to receive 20% off. 🤍 taken in Adelaide, South Australia by @yourstylewithbec

Inviting a personal stylist into your wardrobe can feel incredibly vulnerable.

Your wardrobe is personal. It holds the clothes that no longer fit, things you bought and never wore, pieces you’ve been hanging onto for years, memories and the things you wish you felt confident enough to wear.

And often, by the time a client reaches out to me, there’s a lot more wrapped up in those clothes than simply not knowing how to put an outfit together.

There can be frustration with a changing body, a loss of confidence and a feeling of disconnect from your personal style. Sometimes there’s embarrassment too.

So when I walk into your wardrobe, I’m not there to judge what you own, tell you everything you’ve been doing wrong or convince you to dress like somebody else.

I’m there to understand you. 🥰

To listen to what’s working, what isn’t, what you’re struggling with and how you actually want to feel in your clothes.

And then I bring my knowledge and experience as a stylist to help you see possibilities you might not be able to see for yourself yet.

Yes, we create outfits. We talk about fit, shape, proportion, colour and styling, but creating a space where you feel comfortable enough to explore your style and changing body is just as important to me.

That’s why I was so happy to receive such lovely feedback from Keren.

I had spent time with her in her wardrobe, working through her clothes and helping her navigate some of the changes she was experiencing with her body and style. So to hear that she felt calm, accepted and at ease throughout that experience means a lot to me, because that’s exactly how I want every woman I work with to feel.

This work that I do is incredibly personal, and if you ever invite me into your wardrobe, I want you to know that there will always be kindness, understanding and absolutely no judgement. 🩷 x taken in Adelaide, South Australia by @yourstylewithbec

My beautiful girl is 12. 💗

There’s something about watching your daughter grow up that makes you look at yourself a little differently too.

At 12, Georgia is becoming more independent, forming her own opinions and beginning to discover more about who she is and the kind of young woman she wants to become.

And as her mum, I know she’s not only listening to the things I tell her. She’s watching me too.

She’s watching the way I speak about myself, the way I treat my body. Whether I make time for myself and wear the things I love, and whether I allow myself to keep growing and discovering who I am too.

And that matters to me more than ever.

There are so many things I hope my daughter grows up knowing.

I hope she learns to be kind, but to have boundaries too. To trust herself and what feels right for her, appreciate her body for everything it allows her to do and experience, to know that she can change her mind, find her own way and become whoever she wants to be.

And that feeling beautiful will come from knowing herself, accepting herself and feeling confident expressing who she is.

I know I won’t always get it right, but I hope that by continuing to do that work within myself, I’m showing her what it looks like to be a woman who knows herself, backs herself and continues to grow.

I think it’s also part of why I care so much about the work I do. I want women to understand themselves, appreciate their bodies and feel confident expressing themselves through what they wear.

They’re things I want for my daughter too.

Happy 12th birthday to my beautiful Georgia.

I feel incredibly lucky that I get to be your mum. 💗 x taken in Adelaide, South Australia by @yourstylewithbec
