Mermaids, Vessels and Vinyls reflects Bassiouni’s journey, inspiration, and the cultural significance of his work.
In his work, he focuses on the boat meeting the sea and its movement harmony with the wave to capture the essence of life nature and the mermaid myth on a musical background of painted vinyl LPs.
Bassiouni has always been inspired by the sea as he grew up by the Mediterranean Sea shores with boats in his daily sight.
These modern boats sparked his imagination on how they interact with the waves.
His fascination of Alexandria shaped this vision, as the sea has always been a constant companion, leading him to explore the world of ancient Egyptians boats.
Since boats were such an important part of ancient Egyptian life and were also used for exploration in Mermaids, Vessels and Vinyls, Bassiouni invites the audience to experience a boat journey integrated into mythology with a modern brush twist.
His paintings depict ships and sirens which also adorn his first time molded clay vases.
Mermaids, Vessels and Vinyls is a timeless connection to the Egyptian sea swings.

Friends, I am very excited to announce my first solo exhibition, opening on June 14th at the Dante Community Center in Budapest, Hungary. The exhibition is titled “Cairo Unseen” includes pictures of locals, friends, artists, and non-touristic places.
