I had already recorded the drums for this song during a different session but I didn't like the sound of my snare so I got an idea to delete just my snare mics & over dub just the snare while keeping the kick & crashes from the original take. This required playing just the snare all the way through the song perfectly in time so that it didn't clash with any bleed from the old snare that had gone into the overheads on the old take. Fortunately @luciennuciola was up for the experiment/challenge & it worked. Since the drums on this tune are 95% snare drum (cuz its just a train shuffle beat the whole song) it helped a ton. Much more open, used barely any muting on the snare & let the bottom wires sizzle more. I'm so glad we did it cuz after we mixed it it sounds normal but way better than it did & didn't have to re-mic an entire kit & start over. I even over dubbed a couple crash hits by themselves. 😄 You can hear the results of our efforts now on the new hit single out now from @danyyuno titled REASON TO BELIEVE!! 🥁

Didn't plan this part.

Halfway through Reason to Believe, the whole room started singing. 100 people. First time we played as DANY YUNO.

I want to thank all my friends and family that have been so supportive of me and my love.

After 25 years of playing EDM, Reggae, Funk, Hip Hop beats I had to get back to my OG roots of playing alternative rock tunes when I first learned to play the drums in the 90s. Fortunately I crossed paths with Denver based singer songwriter @danyyuno & got to write & record all the drums on his debut album coming out next month! It was a blast to make an album the old fashioned way with humans playing instruments & it turned out great. The first A/B single is OUT NOW on all platforms as we build out our online YUNOVERSE so go crank it up, save it & keep an eye out for more to come. 🥁 💥 #indierock #altrock #danyyuno #denver by @yrocdrums

Gonna start it off at a unique boutique festival on Orcas Island, WA called Imagine Fest on Sept 7th & then bring the ruckus to @convergencestation (Meow Wolf) in Denver on Sat Sept 14th. A Lil Background History: In Dec of 2019 Matt released the "Imagine Gold" album & less than 3 months later was forced to cancel all shows & fly back home to the UK when the pandemic hit. (We never really got to tour that album even tho we played most of it live before it was released). Left with nothing to do he dove into writing like I've never seen. Mon-Fri, 8am to 5pm, writing everyday. I remember him sending me demos of everything he was making & then going on quarantine walks listening in headphones & giving feedback of what I thought had "legs". Those writing sessions produced a TON of music including the Cusp/Journals single, the No Skin single, the entire new album & many songs that didn't make the cut (but hopefully someday make some sort of rare demos box set?)... But after much debate Matt whittled down the list to 11 songs that went to the mixing studio to be taken across the finish line. And now after months of work on art, music videos, release partners, release schedules, managers, booking agents & everything in between, those 11 songs are now bundled together & being released to the world as the new album "Reflections". I hope you give it a listen with 1/100th of the attention that Matt put into it & I'm proud to have played a tiny part in it. Enjoy. 🎧 (Link In Bio) by @yrocdrums
