Diesel Room has always been integral to our management’s vision; a former electrical workshop in @sentuldepot thoughtfully reimagined as a distinctive F&B destination.

Inspired by regenerated industrial spaces overseas, Executive Directors Yeoh Pei Teeng and Yeoh Keong Wei chose to preserve it with patience and restraint, waiting for a tenant who would recognise its raw authenticity and shared intent. Today, it stands as a rare expression within Malaysia’s evolving landscape.

At the core of this philosophy is a simple conviction: to preserve what is original. The existing roof structure, mature trees and exposed brickwork are retained as they are, forming the foundation of the space’s identity. Interventions are kept minimal and precise, carefully reinforcing only what is necessary to support the original structure while allowing its character to remain intact.

This approach extends beyond Diesel Room, and has guided over a decade of work across Sentul West. It reflects a broader commitment to regeneration, safeguarding heritage structures while allowing Sentul’s natural landscape to remain unforced, authentic and enduring.

Here, architecture is not imposed but revealed, continuing quietly from what already exists — a lasting commitment to preservation.

It was a momentous day at Olive Grove as residents gathered to welcome the newest homeowners into the community. With the first two phases now fully sold out and the final phase on track for completion in 2028, Olive Grove continues to take shape as a growing community. Delivered ahead of schedule, Phase 2 achieved an impressive 81% QLASSIC score — Malaysia’s recognised quality assessment system for construction projects — reflecting the high standards of workmanship upheld throughout the development.

The proud new homeowners came together at the Olive Grove Clubhouse to mark the successful completion and handover of their homes. The occasion was celebrated with a Key Handover Ceremony, brought to life by vibrant performances from a lion dance troupe and 24 Festive Drums.

For YTL Land, this marks another significant step in our commitment to creating thoughtfully planned communities where quality, liveability and a strong sense of place come together. We look forward to seeing Olive Grove continue to evolve as a community, shaped by the people who call it home. by @ytlland

In the visionary township of Kwasa Damansara, Dedaun Rimba marks a significant milestone as the first development to be completed within the new township. Completed ahead of schedule, vacant possession was successfully delivered in August 2026.

Spanning 12.7 acres, this gated and guarded enclave comprises just 264 exclusive homes, offering a low-density setting where nature, design and connectivity come together. With 30% of the development dedicated to open spaces and greenery, Dedaun Rimba creates a natural, tranquil environment for residents, while its 3-storey link houses and 1½-storey townhouses are thoughtfully designed to maximise space, natural light and a connection to the outdoors.

We are proud of the strong response to Dedaun Rimba and the confidence placed in the development. As one of the first communities to take shape in Kwasa Damansara, Dedaun Rimba sets a strong foundation for the township’s future, offering a well-balanced living environment that combines the tranquillity of nature with the convenience of urban connectivity. by @ytlland

Every time an old building is demolished, the same thing happens. Old photographs begin to resurface. People point to an empty piece of land and say, “That’s where it used to be.” The grief is real. It’s strange how we often don’t realise a place has become part of us until it disappears.

Somehow, a room can hold onto its purpose long after the work is gone.

We felt it walking through Sentul Depot. These halls have been many things across 121 years, and yet somehow they still feel like workshops. The proportions give it away.

Every hall once had its own role. Today, they are seen in a different light, from cafes, pickleball, weddings, brand and community events, while still retaining the character of the spaces that came before. And that is perhaps the part we find most difficult to replace. You can restore a wall, reproduce a window or rebuild a roof. But you cannot recreate the years that made a building feel the way it does.

Workshops 5 and 6 are now being considered for their next chapter, with plans to bring the spaces back into use while retaining the architectural details that make them what they are.

We think this is what preservation should look like, not polishing away the past, but allowing its imperfections to remain part of the experience.

That feels worth keeping.

The 121-year-old railway depot that could have disappeared. 🚂

There was a time when Sentul Depot was the beating heart of Malaya’s railway network.

Built in 1905, the Central Railway Workshops employed more than 5,000 workers at its peak. Locomotives were repaired here, railway components were manufactured, and for decades, it was one of the largest railway engineering workshops in Southeast Asia.

An entire community grew alongside it. Railway workers came from different parts of the world, bringing with them their languages, traditions and cultures. Over time, their communities took root, leaving behind places of worship that still reflect Sentul’s diverse history today.

When railway operations eventually moved away, the workshops were left empty. Demolition may have been the easier choice, but for those who understood its significance, losing a building that had carried over a century of history was simply unconscionable.

Instead, YTL Land saw something worth keeping.

Today, the workshops have taken on a different role. The Diesel Room is now home to @grumpybagels 1905. Workshop 2 now hosts padel and pickleball, while the remaining spaces continue to welcome everything from car exhibitions and fashion shows to weddings and community gatherings.

The best moment is when preservation can coexist with ordinary life, allowing an old building to remain occupied, useful and woven into the everyday.

Which ones do we choose to pass on to the next generation?

Juxtaposed against the building’s existing brick walls, the rich patina of Corten steel introduces a striking contrast in texture and character. Creating an atmosphere where warm, weathered steel and timeworn masonry come together to bridge heritage with modernity in a beautifully considered composition.

The easiest thing to do with an old building is to make it new. @ytlland took a different approach with @sentuldepot.

Rather than rushing to overhaul a 120-year-old site, the restoration has been a slower process of figuring out what could stay, what needed to be repaired and what could be added without taking away from its history.

You can still spot the original railway tracks, steel structures, exposed brickwork and distinctive saw-tooth roofs throughout the site. And now, little by little, new life is finding its way in, with places like @grumpybagels and @pickledepot becoming part of the depot's next chapter.

Because good restoration isn't about making the old disappear. It's about letting the old live alongside the new.

Reserved for only a select few, Sentul Works is a workplace unlike any other. Tucked away within a serene private park, it offers a rare sense of calm where views of lush greenery replace the usual backdrop of traffic and city noise.

With direct access to modern gems such as Pickle Depot and Grumpy Bagels 1905, the precinct brings together heritage, community and contemporary culture in a way few workplaces can.
