Reunion part 2✨✨ by @yu.ting8096

Reunion part 1✨ by @yu.ting8096

My favorite project during my first year at Rmit. It is designed based on a classic business shirt.

Voice of Freedom (2025/10/30)

I inspired by the shearing the Rams (1890), oil on canvas, created by Tom Roberts in response to the design brief. The content of the painting is the wool industry. However, there are only white men in this painting. While there were women and other cultures involved at that time. When Tom Roberts drew this painting, he paid a girl to kick up dust to recapture the atmosphere of shearing time. Whereas he drew the girl into a tar “boy” in the painting. I am Chinese; there were many Chinese people in Australia at that time. The missing of diversity, the hiding of truth, and the trap of the voices advocating for equal rights inspired me to alter the signifiers of business shirts. Mask collar, hidden breast pockets, concealed plackets, and double-layer cuffs are all based on missing and hiding. The plackets at inside cuff, inside collar, and back represented trapped.
