The Stranger - .... . ... - .-. .- -. โ€“. . .-. Art Exhibition at ACM DIS2023. July 12 - 14, 2023, ๐Ÿ“Studio Theater, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA, U.S. By Kyung Yun Choi, Hiroshi Ishii, and Special thanks to Mark Feldmeier ๐Ÿ”–This interactive art delves into the paradox of being what you say and saying what you are. Using an automated typewriter that translates speech into Morse code, it creates a sense of distance and loss of control over one's thoughts. The resulting encrypted sentences, composed of dots, dashes, 'I,' and 'You,' seem to engage in a dialogue with the participant. Inspired by the novel "The Stranger" by Albert Camus, it explores the ephemeral nature of inner and outer voices and the loss of self-authority. Resilience is central to the artwork, as the audience engages and leaves typewritten traces of their monologue, forming a collective sequence on an endless roll of paper. โœ…PhD Defense Completed! 04.16.2024 I felt and still feel numb. Nothing changed in me before or after that date, but now everyone is calling me Dr. Choi. I feel so distanced yet thankful. Looking back at the year I first joined TMG, MIT Media Lab, I feel like I have been traveling in a whole new world or dream that never existed. Finally my M.S thesis is done for the partial fulfillment of the requirements for MAS at the MIT๐Ÿคฃ I feel so thankful (x1000) and lucky! Excited for the next step. ๐Ÿ’ƒ So many ups and downs.., during this process, but those all were trully worth to have, and I'd like to thank those experiences.
