We are pleased to announce the newest addition to the subfactory fam: @yungwaveydave. Welcome to the crew 🫶🏿“Yung Dave is a DJ / creative of numerous skills / cool dude hailing from Orange County, CA. Having grown up fostering a sense of discovery through internet spaces, Dave cut his teeth early on with drum & bass and dubstep at a young age. Dave started mixing vinyl in 2019, having collected records for years before that, before learning the digital side of DJing in 2022 at Titan Radio at CSUF, where he’d later co-host Titan Radio After Hours with Julio Reyes from 2022 to 2023. Dave has a ravenous appetite digging for music that reflects his encyclopedic knowledge of numerous music scenes, time periods, record labels, and artist discographies. He can weave through the rich tapestry of the UK hardcore continuum, to more experimental sounds that aren’t confined to typical genre boundaries. Whether tracks are played straight to certain styles or curveballs are thrown, you’re definitely going to hear some fresh and exciting sounds in a Yung Dave set.Currently, Dave has a monthly residence on Subtle Radio. Hi, I have a new mix coming out on @subtleradio for @yungwaveydave Invites series.Subtle Radio is an Independent Community Radio based in London so this will be my first International guest mix.This mix was inspired by my time in SF when I went to f8 for an @program.audio show, specifically the smaller room in the back. Everyone’s set felt like a reflection of who they are and was a priviledge to witness artists as their authentic selves.Tune in Monday 13th at 4pm PST 🌍 by @yungwaveydave

Introducing “Entry Point (: A Short Summary on Team Fortress 2, Drum & Bass, and My First Forays with Internet Culture)” - a zine detailing my first run-ins with internet culture and drum & bass through Team Fortress 2.“The year is 2009. You’re an elementary school-age kid starting to grasp the concept of URL culture on the home computer. You find out about a video game called Team Fortress 2. Despite not having the game, you keep watching videos about it on Youtube. One video grasps your attention with a kind of music you’ve never heard before…”Over the summer of 2023, I (finally) started to regularly go to music nights within local scenes, hearing drum & bass, dubstep, and other strains of low-end focused sound system music within the proper context it’s meant to be heard at. However, I’d been listening to all this stuff since I was around 10 years old, so I was very much a late bloomer with live events and actual IRL music communities. It was a long time coming.This zine is a tribute to the singular entry point into how I got into this whole music thing - a Team Fortress 2 video on how to play the Scout by Youtube user EvilDaedalus - featuring part of the Jungle Sound Gold mix CD by Pendulum. I also reminiscence on the rapid changes of URL culture after the noughties, Team Fortress 2 itself… and drum & bass! It started out with drum & bass. It was always about drum & bass.Created February - March 2025 for the first IE Print & Zine Fest. Finalized the front cover for 2026’s IE Print & Zine Fest. @ieprintzinefest In the spirit of “how things were always done back then”, this zine is only available as physical copies at zine fests. my Subtle Radio episode for March 2026 features KCMO’s Dewey, co-founder of Wavelength @wavelength.kcmo, one half of Zaza Palace alongside TwinnFlame @twinnflame.sound, and one of the Midwest’s top selectors for soundsystem club music.our interview went over the Midwest music scene, the origins of how Zaza Palace was named, playing at an Onhell party, favorite recent music experiences, and the driving ethos behind why we put a lot of care and work into our local music communities.the guest mix is a multigenre trip of dubstep deep cuts, breaks, and footwork - fun club-focused music for the heads.@bisondewey linx in the usual places. by @yungwaveydave

first Subtle episode of 2026 is a playback of my @dubstepdungeon set from December, featuring @dublust_music and @manifolds_ in the studio. I dig wide and deep for music all the time, and DJ mixes for radio / livestreams are the perfect platform to showcase all the selections I find. The name of the show (Dubstep Dungeon) implies sticking to one genre, but I like to go off the rails when it comes to that. It makes for a much more fun experience to go a little off-script, although it’s always on theme within the general realm of the UK hardcore continuum.Big ups to all the dungeon listeners.
