A bird becomes a murmuration.

A butterfly becomes a migration.

Small forms gather.
Patterns emerge.
Something larger begins to take shape.

The smallest mark can hold the beginning of something vast.

Sometimes scale becomes abstraction.

Steel, weight, repetition, sky.

Visiting the LNG facility under construction at Arawak Cay, I was struck by the extraordinary scale of the fabrication — and by how quickly engineering begins to look like sculpture.

Arches of Reverie, renewed.

There is something wonderful about returning to a sculpture years after it was made.

The form is the same, but color changes the way we see it—how it holds light, how one curve passes through another, how the spaces between become part of the work.

Newly painted in this deep blue and returned to its place.

Sometimes a work doesn’t need to become something else.

It simply needs to be seen again.

From the studio archive - 2013.

A studio is never still.

Paintings, lean, wait, interrupt, reflect, contradict. The body moves between them, carrying one decision into the next. Looking back at these images, I remember painting as a kind of choreography - arm, brush, wall, floor, silence, light.

I am thinking about the small hidden mechanisms that allow energy to pass through - not force, not control, but alignment, permission, contact.

In the quiet follows, the unseen finds its way through.

The key works only when everything is properly aligned.

Too much force breaks it.
Too much space makes it useless.

I think about this often - in drawing, in sculpture, in the small hidden structures that allows something to move.

From the studio archive, about 15 years ago.

I am looking at these images now while working on Notebook of Keys, and I can see that the questions have not changed as much as the materials have.

A line moving through space.
A branch becoming a map.
A painting becoming a place to enter.

Now, while the sculptures are elsewhere being finished, I am back with paper, pastel, and writing — still following the line.
