This highly unserious analogy involving aliens was absolutely not something I was planning to say during the panel. It was a satirical thought I had while wondering "what is the hypothetical Western equivalent of suffering the consequences of someone else's actions?" which I was going to keep to myself, until...

Before the event, as I was fixing my sari in the very fancy bathroom at the Ford Foundation, I ran into my fellow panelist Mizue Aizeki who asked, "Hey, I read you're a comedian right? You're gonna mix it up, right?" I hesitated, and asked if that was a good idea given the serious occasion, since I had actually just planned to speak about the facts. "Make them uncomfortable," she replied, "if not now, then when?"

"Striving For Clean Air: Air Pollution and Public Health In South Asia". by @yusraamjadwrites

CW: abuse, victimblaming, gaslighting

Girl cries wolf and no one comes running
Girl cries wolf and the townsfolk scratch their heads
Girl cries wolf and the doctor asks if the wolf has fangs.
Girl cries wolf and the professor asks if she l has tried closing her eyes

perhaps if you do not see the wolf the wolf will not see you back

Girl cries wolf and someone asks if she's sure it's not a puppy
Girl cries wolf and all the pitchforks are off duty
Girl cries wolf and the lunchlady asks why she fled
Girl cries wolf and the sheriff asks why she fought

when you stare into a wolf the wolf stares back

Girl cries wolf and the librarian reminds her there are dragons in the next town
Girl cries wolf and the postman asks if she has tried stroking it.
Girl cries wolf and the butcher asks if she has tried feeding it one of her limbs.
Girl cries wolf and the mayor says it's a shame she and the wolf don't get along anymore
that he remembers when she and the wolf were friends.

girl cries wolf and is asked if she has been bitten
girl says yes and is asked if she has been dismembered
girl says yes and is asked if she has been devoured.
what kind of town will we become if we banish our wolves?
who will keep our girls out of the woods?
who will teach our girls to bleed patiently?
who will teach our girls sacrifice?
how will they know the world is not safe,
if they don't know that even the town is not safe?
that even a wolf deserves a home, a roof over his head, a place at the table,
and a girl to eat.

💔 I’m Ahmed, Rawan’s husband, and I’m writing this with deep fear for my wife and our baby.
Rawan is now suffering from post-partum complications along with some health issues, and we are currently suffering from famine. We need to store as much food, water, and baby supplies as possible, alongside covering our urgent medical needs and shelter. We urgently need D0.llars 2,000to cover all of these needs.
I know times are difficult for everyone, but even D0.llars 50 or 100 from several people could h£lp us reach our goal much more easily.
If you cannot d0.nate, please don’t scroll past. Sharing this post could help our story reach someone who can h£lp us.
All I want is to protect my wife and our baby and provide what they need right now.
🤲❤️ Please supp0.rt us generously, my brothers, with whatever you can. by @yusraamjadwrites

To all our loved ones and kind-hearted people..
On October 9th, my wife Rawan gave birth, and instead of celebrating our newborn, we entered a terrifying nightmare. Due to severe postpartum complications, Rawan's health deteriorated significantly, and she had to be hospitalized again while I stand completely h£lpless before her pain.
As if this pain wasn't enough, our only phone broke, and we urgently need an alternative shelter. We are facing real hunger; there is not even a single piece of bread left in our house, and prices have become insane like the days of famine amid critically weak donations.
We urgently and desperately need d0llars 1,500 immediately to cover (fixing the phone, Rawan's urgent medication, securing an urgent alternative shelter, and securing food for our children).
We need someone to sponsor and supp0.rt us to get through these dark days. Please, do not leave us alone.. sharing this caption or providing a simple contributi0nn saves a life. 🙏 by @yusraamjadwrites

Through Kashf, Global Affairs Canada has invested and believed in Pakistan’s women for the last ten years. It’s time for Pakistan to invest in its women as well.
