Nine years, three degrees.

These past five years have shaped me and moulded me like clay. They have broke me. Exposed my weakness. They have pushed me and propelled me. They have grown me. Positioned me. Refined me. All in the same breath. Every moment, was part of the jigsaw of becoming the Doctor… the woman I needed to be.

Today I am standing as a testimony of God’s goodness. His grace. His favour and mercy has carried me through every season. He has continuously strengthened me and held me in His righteous right hand. Through my lowest and darkest moments, He was with me. He never left me. He made sure people were in my life to uphold me. He consistently exceeded my expectations. I’ve never lacked.

Nine years, three degrees, and what feels like about fifty lifetimes later, I finally can call myself a doctor. And it’s all because of God. taken in Kent and Medway Medical School by @yutaauriel

Today, I officially received the confirmation that I made it 🩺

I can officially say that I am a Doctor - but for me, it’s more than just a title.

It is 3 year-old me, forcing everybody to let me deliver their (doll) baby.
It is 16 year-old me, trying to find the right strategies for A-Levels, after many knocks in confidence in my former years.
It is 20 year-old me, working tirelessly to get the transfer from Biomed to Medicine at St George’s.
It is 23 year-old me, being forced to learn that death and life are companions. How, In loss, we are called to find life again. How I had to find life again.

Being a doctor, for me, is not just about the title. It’s about holding and honouring people’s stories. It’s about walking with them through their pain. It’s about choosing compassion. Serving. It’s about becoming the kind of person I once needed.

It’s about resilience. It’s about determination.

It’s purpose. It’s calling. It’s healing.

It’s ministry.

And T, remember when you said, stay, and focus on becoming the best doctor that you can be. I will always do that. And I hope that I can make you proud 🤍

Today, I just don’t carry the title doctor. I carry every version of myself that FOUGHT to be here. I carry the version that cried myself to sleep and I carry the version that made it.

And the ending is bittersweet. Yes, leaving a medical school that has taught me so much. That has taught me the power of listening, the joy of healing and the love of community. But it’s almost as if that I’m leaving behind a chapter that still feels like it holds you, T. And entering new one when you were supposed to be here is painful. Still, I will always carry you with me.

God, thank you for bringing the work you started in me to completion. Though I know this is just the beginning. For the grace, strength and peace you have given me. For never letting me walk on this journey alone. I give you all the glory. 🥹🤍 by @yutaauriel
