Before I started traveling, I lived in Tel Aviv for four years with my partner.

I was an elementary school theater teacher. It sounds sweet, but I was exhausted, underpaid, deeply unhappy, and going through a difficult time in my relationship too.

There were mornings when I could barely get myself out of bed.

Sometimes I couldnโ€™t even bring myself to brush my hair. I would wake up, leave the house exactly as I was, take two buses to work, and just try to survive the day.

And not in an empowering โ€œI donโ€™t care what people thinkโ€ kind of way.

I had simply stopped caring.

At the same time, I still loved parts of my life. I loved Tel Aviv, good food, getting dressed up, going out, and enjoying the city.

But deep down, I knew I wanted to leave.

That was complicated because I loved my partner. I wanted to stay with him. I imagined marriage, children, and a future together.

But I also knew I had to take this trip.

I had no idea how I would support myself.
I didnโ€™t know what my life would look like.
I didnโ€™t know I would build the business I have today.

I only knew I wanted to go.

And I am so glad I did.

Today I get to explore the world, meet new people, discover new places, and live a life I once only dreamed about.

I miss my family and friends deeply. I miss celebrations and important moments, and there is definitely a price to this choice.

But alongside that sadness, I feel incredibly lucky.

I got to choose myself.

And I still get to keep traveling and seeing the world. ๐Ÿ’œ by @yuvaloutloud

I saw the grave of a woman I had never met and completely broke down in tears.
Getting to experience the work of women who left their mark on the world is so inspiring.

โฆI was standing outside the airport in Sri Lanka, about to get into a car with a man I had never met before.
Just me, a complete stranger, and an hour long drive to Colombo.
I was terrified.
I had ordered an Uber from the airport, but I didnโ€™t know the driver. I didnโ€™t know who he was. And getting into a car alone with a man in a country I had just arrived in?
Every part of me was screaming, โ€œDonโ€™t.โ€
But I got in.
I didnโ€™t really have a better option. The bus didnโ€™t feel any safer, and an hour in a tuk tuk sounded like pure suffering.
My heart was beating hard enough to power a train.
We started driving. We talked a little. He told me about himself, I told him about myself, and slowly, the anxiety started to disappear.
When we finally arrived, I could breathe again.
I thanked him and asked for his phone number.
And he ended up becoming my driver for the entire trip.
It didnโ€™t matter where I was or where I needed to go in Sri Lanka. He was there to pick me up.
Our safety isnโ€™t always completely in our hands.
But whenever I have the chance to tip the odds in my favor, Iโ€™ll take it with both hands.
Because my safety matters more than anything.โฉ by @yuvaloutloud

I have some reservations about religion. Iโ€™m skeptical when it comes to faith, and I donโ€™t feel entirely comfortable embracing it as my own.

And yet, somehow, A Song of Ascents has always been my go-to.
Whenever I just want to sing something that feels good in my voice, this is the song that comes out.

Do I believe that God is watching over me? I donโ€™t think so.
Do I believe that something is looking out for me? Absolutely.

You can call it God, you can call it energy, you can give it a thousand different names.
I donโ€™t really know what it is.
I just know that I feel it, and Iโ€™m grateful for it.

And somewhere in the middle of this video, I forgot a word.
There was a time when I probably would have stopped, started over, and tried to hide that moment.
This time, I just kept singing.

And maybe thatโ€™s also part of what it means to feel protected.
To know that Iโ€™m allowed to make mistakes, forget a word, lose my place for a second, and nothing falls apart.

Thatโ€™s exactly the feeling I want to create in my lessons too.
A space where you donโ€™t have to be afraid of the note that didnโ€™t come out right, the word you forgot, or the moment your voice cracked.
Because when we feel safe enough to make mistakes, we stop focusing on getting everything โ€œrightโ€ and start actually using our voices.

If you want a space like that for your voice too, comment SING and Iโ€™ll send you a message ๐ŸŽถ by @yuvaloutloud

Where my heart was broken.

I arrived at a new old place. A place I was in 8 years ago.
I fell in love with a guy here.
We met again later, somewhere else in India. I knew he was in the middle of a breakup, but my heart didnโ€™t care at all.
I tried to listen to reason. I really did. But I couldnโ€™t. I fell hard.
The second time I saw him in India, I told him how I felt. He hugged me and told me he still had a lot of feelings for his ex and that it just wasnโ€™t the right time.
I hugged him back and told him I understood.
I asked him for one thing. When we get back home, donโ€™t contact me unless you want us to be together.
He agreed.
He went back home. I came back two months after him.
Two weeks after I got back, I got a message from him: โ€œCome to the city, letโ€™s go to a restaurant together.โ€
So I took a train from the south all the way to the city to see him.
We sat in that restaurant for six hours. We laughed, talked, and made plans to see each other again.
He wanted a restaurant, I wanted the beach, so we decided to do both.
A few hours before we were supposed to meet, I was so excited, butterflies in my stomach, feeling things I had never felt before, when I got this message from him:
โ€œIโ€™m so excited to see you again! Do you think it would be okay if I brought my new plus one this time?โ€
I laughed to myself. โ€œVery funny. Heโ€™s messing with me.โ€
But no.
He was completely serious.
You know the expression โ€œan arrow through the heartโ€? Thatโ€™s what it felt like. Exactly like that.
I wrote back, โ€œOf course, Iโ€™d love that,โ€ and then I just disappeared. I didnโ€™t go.
A year later, he tried to talk to me on the phone again. I told him there was no reason for him to contact me after what had happened.
Needless to say, he had absolutely no idea what I was talking about.
Today, heโ€™s married.
And Iโ€™m back in the place where I first fell in love with him.
Because I want to fall in love again.
I want someone who chooses me, and I choose them.
And I want us to walk through this world together. by @yuvaloutloud

One of the worst parts about being an adult is realizing that no one is coming to save you from a life you donโ€™t want.
It took me almost drowning in a river in India to start understanding that.
Eight years ago, I came to India for the first time. I met a few people, we traveled to Ladakh together, and within four days I somehow managed to go rafting, flip over with the raft, and get trapped underneath it in the river, unable to breathe.
After they pulled me out, I ran back to Manali.
My cousin told me about a place near Manali called Adamโ€™s Farm, and I ended up there for what I can only describe now as my personal โ€œIndia boot camp.โ€
I did workshops, met incredible people, and was introduced to all kinds of new ways of looking at myself.
One day, during a guided visualization exercise, I was sitting there writing in my notebook when, at some point, it just fell out of my hands. And I started crying.
Suddenly, I could see so clearly how much of my life was built around things I was afraid to do. Not things I couldnโ€™t do. Things I was afraid to do.
And that is a huge difference.
Since that day, Iโ€™ve been trying to learn the difference between fear that protects me and anxiety that makes my world smaller. I donโ€™t always get it right.
But one thing has stayed with me ever since. If thereโ€™s something in my life I donโ€™t want anymore, I canโ€™t just sit around waiting for the circumstances to change. I have a responsibility to myself to try to change them.
And thatโ€™s fucking scary.
But sometimes, realizing that no one is coming to change your life is exactly what gives you the power to change it yourself. by @yuvaloutloud
