I did tutorial of this low bun so many months ago. But wasn’t in the best head space at the time, and I didn’t like what I had created. But I thought…”just post it”, I’m sure someone will find it helpful 😅🙈

If you think someone might think this is helpful, do them a solid and send it to them 🥰

It’s giving muted earthy tones, dramatic natural landscapes, sheer textures and is imperfectly beautiful.

As a creative I’ve really struggled not being able to create beautiful hair, so being able to attend @nami.creative and @surfgirlnz photography workshop definitely filled my creative cup.

Thank you to the beautiful @sarah_ngaruhe for being our muse for the shoot along session.

Do you think I have what it takes to be a photographer? And tell me which is your favourite?

It’s been almost a year ago since we lost our mum. And since then I have had Fantails in particular dance in circles around me on my walks with Freddie, this never happened before. I just know she’s still with me even with the random Bruce Springsteen songs that pop up in play lists it doesn’t belong 😂

Weirdly enough it brings me a sense of comfort and I feel like the past few months my body is finally letting go of the extra weight. It’s definitely taken a lot of consistency to get here, but I’m down 6kgs 🙌🏻

@freshstartbymyfoodbag has been the main constant since the start of the year. It takes away the “what to have for dinner” decision. Made me try new foods, and adding more fibre into my diet. Plus their ready made meals are a lifesaver on the days you just don’t have time or you can’t be bothered to cook. AD

Freddie is my other constant. He needs walking every day even when I don’t want to. Agility training for a bit more high intensity and the never ending snuggles when I’m not feeling myself.

I am still struggling with my body but have since been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, so I’m learning to listen to my body when it’s saying it’s had enough. I’ve also been dealing with frozen shoulder after surgery, inflamed bursa in my shoulder and hip, bulging discs c6-7 with nerve root compression and a labrum tear in my hip. These have now all had treatment and hopefully on the mend.

I know I’ve been super quiet on here, and at time useless at replying to DM’s 😅 I am trying to talk myself into posting regularly but I’ve also been going through other stuff as well which has taken its toll on me for sometime now.

In short the past year in particular have been very tough on me and it’s so hard to show up. But I also think we need to show that life isn’t always a box of chocolates and this app is the perfect example of only showing the good bits, which can then put even more pressure on us.

So focus on the small wins you have, even if that’s just making a healthy dinner every night. What is your constant that keeps you motivated even when life throws curve balls?

Following on from @hollahair.pro post (a couple posts back) of me explaining what I think is most important is this post.

Here’s the proof that attending classes as scary it may be for some, it is so important.

My first class I went to I was so scared to do the hands on part in front of other stylists. But I did it, not well, but I did it. I then went home and practiced straight away and I kept practicing.

I’ve said it time and time again. Growth only comes when you push yourself out of your comfort zone. I’m proof…the girl who use to make her friend comes to classes so I wasn’t alone — to taking classes in front of large classes.

I’m not an overly confident person, never have been. But in saying that, pushing myself I’ve managed to become a lot more confident in all aspects of life.

So take that dam class, I know I will continue to learn 🤍

Make sure to check out Holla Hair Academy where you can find mine and many more amazing artist’s tutorials. Link is in my bio, or comment Tutorial and I’ll send it straight to your inbox.

I taught it in almost every class, then it went out of fashion and I stopped teaching it. Funny thing about trends, they always come back around.

Want the full breakdown? Tell me in the comments.

Is the mermaid braid coming back thanks to @zendaya 😍

Who would like to see it back and who wouldn’t?

Fun fact…This style is literally what I was first known for and use to always teach it in my classes.

Cannot wait to get back into brides for this upcoming wedding season. I have missed styling hair so much.

I still have some available dates, but I am keeping numbers low to ease my shoulder back into working.

This is the reason your bridal updos look too structured when you’re going for a softer look, and the fix is super easy.

Most stylists I teach say to me the struggle with soft airy hair that doesn’t look too messy. They grip and twist the hair tight and then pin in place, then realise they can’t pinch and pull the hair out.

What you need to do is use soft hands, gently twist the hair and temporarily pin it with U pins, to then pinch and pull for softness.

Add your face framing pieces intentionally, plan them ahead of the updo to help you get a balanced look. Never take them in a straight line, I like to zig zag them so the temple is always covered.

The updo holds well when it is soft and airy, and now it will photograph beautifully and move slightly in the wind which makes for great photos.

Save this and try it on your next content day. What do you find the hardest in updos? I will build my next tutorial around your answers.
