For the third chapter of Sound Breeding, São Paulo-based artist Yvu asks what happens when a sound stops behaving like an object and becomes an entity — something that lingers beyond its body, carrying the memory of forgotten ancestors. Drawing on the animist languages of their heritage — the Japanese kami, the Ryukyuan Utaki of their Okinawan lineage, and the Amerindian perspectivism of their Brazilian roots — Yan Higa moves from the suspended world of Mushishi to the sacred spaciousness of Dub and the ritual continuity of Techno, inviting us into a mode of attention they call “reverent listening”: sound design not as engineering, but as encounter.

Na segunda edição da Acta Listening Night, o selo retorna ao incrível espaço Acaso @aaacaso.ooo para construir um “Túnel de Memórias Iminentes”, nos guiando intuitivamente, com imagem e som, através de relevos hostis. Moving beyond the singular organism, Yan Higa guides us into the complex social lives of sound, reframing the mix as a synthetic community and composition as an act of “sonic cosmo-politics” — viewing is sound design as social design, an alive ecosystem within the mix.

“The dirt slowly swallows our buildings, vehicles, machines, waste, and technology. New living structures are spit out. Unearthed hybrids made of human-processed matter.

I pick my eyes from the viscous soil and glare into the atmosphere. I see battling cumulonimbus. The mountains fade, and the land becomes sea and fog.

No sight could’ve configured my pupils to rest upon these new landscapes. The shapes are threatening and razor-sharp, yet they breathe in sync with the rise and fall of my wounded chest.”

“Escama” is Iguana’s debut EP. Hailing from the east side of São Paulo, Iguana is a cryptic producer who pushes Baile Funk into obscure new territories. The artist expands on the genre’s fearless exploration of extreme sounds and relentless beats, with a deeper focus on the subtle details found in the synthesis of authentic Brazilian Baile Funk instrumentals.

Influenced mainly by the most peculiar Baile soundscapes of São Paulo’s niches, Iguana weaves in genre-defying melodic, percussive, and textural elements. Each track carries a distinct feeling, shaped by carefully curated layers of electronic and organic music inputs from around the globe.

Escama é o EP de estreia de Iguana. Natural da zona leste de São Paulo, Iguana é um produtor enigmático que leva o Baile Funk a territórios obscuros e inexplorados. Expandindo a exploração ousada do gênero por sons extremos e batidas implacáveis, o artista se aprofunda nos detalhes sutis encontrados na síntese dos instrumentais do Baile Funk autêntico brasileiro.

Influenciado principalmente pelas paisagens sonoras mais peculiares dos nichos do Funk paulistano, Iguana costura elementos melódicos, percussivos e texturais que desafiam os limites de gênero.
