Creative musings/food for thought I found whilst reading through an old sketchbook from 2021 (unedited) 🌟

"The price we pay for solitude in the 21st century is perpetrated by the endless materialism, the more objects and systems of technology we surround ourselves with, the more our existence costs, not only to ourselves, but to our mother earth and ecology of the biological systems of nature. Our lives become consumed by working for a wage, wasting that wage on fancy clothes, gluttonous meals of extravagance, and copious amounts of intoxication, namely tobacco, alcohol, cocaine and weed, amongst other mind-altering substances.

The guilt of waste, not only of hard earned cash, but also commodities, consumes us underneath, but on the external we reason that it is just the feeling of a hangover (and whatever concoction of consumables we have bombarded our poor body and brain with) but it is more... the feeling of dread returning to a jon that solely funds such vices and addictions, the feeling of embarrassment that we did something unforgivable to someone we dearly love and care for, the feeling of anti-climax that one night of fun is swiftly followed by 5 nights of boredom, and the overwhelming sadness of the endless, repetitive nature of all men's follies, that are no means to an end.

The system is constructed around us, pre-empting our reactions to policy, exacting our predictable activity as consumers in the big machine. If we sever the connections to news, media and Internet, we start to feel the positive energy around us. The machine loses steam. The big American dream. People have become less thankful for their servitude, questioning the people and services that should work for us, willing to take risks to elevate themselves from being a subservient wage slave."
