Hi everyone, I am Zabrina Deng, an Sony Artisan of Imagery & a destination wedding/fashion photographer based in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. I was born in China but came to the US when I was a teenager, attended High School in Hayward (Mt. Eden High), and graduated from UC Davis with a major in Managerial Economics and a minor in Chinese Literature. I worked in tech for eight years before taking the leap of faith to pursue photography full-time. Though I wish I had started earlier, this marks my 15th year as a full-time photographer, and I feel confident in the wealth of experience it has afforded me.Attending Master Sifu @scottrobertlim’s week-long workshop in Hong Kong and Beijing back in 2009 was a turning point in my life. It allowed me to experience the life of a destination photographer and utilize my bilingual skills. Since then, I have photographed weddings, portraits, engagement sessions, and fashion assignments. I feel extremely fortunate to have been one of the first photographers to tap into the trend of combining fashion and glamour with location shoots. My wedding and pre-wedding clients have taken me to Europe, Asia, and North Africa as frequent destinations.I love being able to create something incredibly romantic and glamorous for each wedding couple. Making them look their best is my passion and top priority in these sessions.Social media often limits the viewing experience, so I’d love to connect with you personally. Andalusia feels like walking through layers of history.I’m always drawn to its Moorish architecture, arches, walls, and the way light and shadow seem to shape each corner. Decisive Moment.This is what goes through my mind during a wedding day.I knew I had less than a minute before the sun disappeared below the horizon. Natural light alone wouldn’t do justice to the epic sunset or the romance between Nina & Mike, so there wasn’t time to hesitate.I quickly had my lighting assistant place an off-camera flash behind them to create a rim light, separating them from the purple sky and highlighting that one perfect kiss.Less than 60 seconds later, the light was gone.Sometimes the most unforgettable photographs are made in the shortest amount of time.Golden hour glow or moody blue hour drama, which light are you drawn to more? These are the moments you only get once.Henri Cartier-Bresson’s idea of the “decisive moment” is always in the back of my mind whenever I photograph a wedding.My approach to a wedding day is completely different from a prewedding or engagement session. There’s no second take. It’s a constant balancing act between anticipation, technical execution, and instinct. Being in the right place at the right time is only half the story. You also have to know exactly what to do with the camera before the moment disappears.The dance floor has always been one of my favorite parts of any wedding. Behind every photo is a photographer who never made it into the frame. 🫠😅The last six months have been a blur, shooting weddings, portraits, commercial work and events across San Francisco, Austin, St Louis and NYC. Long flights, early mornings, sunsets, blue hours, late nights, and countless shutter clicks. I wouldn’t have it any other way.Lately, the @sonyalpha FE 28–70mm F2 GM and FE 50–150mm F2 GM have rarely left my A9 III and A7R V cameras.
