This was a good year. I am so thankful for the people God has placed in my life this year. God has once again never failed to surprise me with His beauty.

This last month I have searched for every opportunity for a worship night, every church service, every special event to experience God. But the Spirit gave me a revelation that I get to experience Jesus everyday. I don’t need to see with my eyes or hear with my ears nor hunt for a location or the sound of music.

There is no better place you can find Him better than the very desperation we are all currently in. The very brokenness Jesus died for.

Jesus is not hard to find if your heart is open to Him. (Romans 1:19-20)

Thank you Jesus!

2,500 miles away and Jesus still showed up. I don’t have any thoughts or reflections to give to you today but I would like to share this Scripture.

“Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the lampstands one like the Son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around His chest. The hairs on His were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, His feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and His voice was like the roar of many waters. In His right hand He held seven stars, from His mouth came a sharp double edged sword, and His face was like the sun shining in full strength
-
When I saw Him I fell at His feet as though dead. But He laid His right hand on me saying “Fear not, I Am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys to death and Hades” (Rev. 1:12-17)

This is God, the artist of your life. And He is your friend…

Deceptive Ignorance

“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” - 1 Peter 5:8

Spiritual warfare is a very misunderstood topic that may be leading us to be ignorant and afraid, two words that you never want to hear out of a Christian’s mouth. And because Ignorance is the foundation of Satan’s deception, his schemes ought to be exposed because, without such knowledge, a believer can fight for, defend, and protect evil spirits under the false pretense that he is defending God since, when the person experiences something supernatural, he automatically assumes it is divine, therefore deserving our defense. Meaning that man, through ignorance, can stand against God and attack the very truth of God, yet also defend the devil, and oppose God, unless he has knowledge. Likewise, it isn’t about what you have right, but what you have wrong.

What is demonization? It is a misconception that if you have a demon, you are possessed. But that is not always the case for the word possession. Possession can mean two things. Something that possesses you, or something that you possess. The greek participle daimonizomenos which in its root means “a demon causes passivity” this indicates a control other than that of the someone who is demonized. It is someone who is submitting to the devil, opening doors to spiritual attack.

The word “demon possession” should not be thrown around lightly. Because If I could give you one thing, demons do not own anything. They are only squatters or invaders of territory that does not belong to them. (Ps. 24:1). They are tenants whom you’ve given the keys to live there (Jn. 10:10). The bottom line: there is only when way to get rid of them: The way, the truth, and the life, Jesus Christ.

It’s the name that demons tremble and the name through we claim victory. When you commit your life to Jesus—when you say “I belong to Him” you are declaring that your body is no longer your own—its real estate, owned by the Holy Spirit. The enemy needs to hear that loud and clear.

The enemy may be strong but the one who lives in us is stronger.

Divine Healing

“But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.” - Isa. 53:5

When we neglect to pray for the sick, we fail to exercise what Christ has paid for. He paid too great a price for us to ignore this responsibility. In fact, our obedience—or lack thereof—“can “ influence whether someone remains sick. Let’s briefly investigate this further.

How should we define Christian healing? The New Testament presents four key terms related to healing. First, Divine Healing refers to God’s direct intervention, as revealed in Scripture and fully demonstrated through Jesus Christ. Second, Miracle Healing involves supernatural acts that, while often divine, can also be performed by Satan and his demons (Deut. 13:1-3; Acts 8:9-25) meaning not all miraculous healings are from God. Third, Faith Healing describes instances where individuals place faith in themselves rather than in Christ’s authority. Lastly, Supernatural Healing refers to healing beyond scientific understanding, but like miracles, it can also be carried out by demonic forces. Given these distinctions, Divine Healing is the most accurate term to describe Christian healing.

John Wimber’s argument asserts that (1) God does not directly will evil, (2) God does directly remove evil, (3) sometimes, instead of removing evil, God accomplishes His purposes through it, and (4) many kids of evil we experience should not be approached passively.

That being said, not everyone in the Bible was healed. Epaphroditus (Phil. 2:17), Timothy (1 Tim. 5:23), Trophimus (2 Tim. 4:20), and even Paul himself (Gal. 4:13-14) all suffered from illnesses that were not immediately—or ever—healed. Yet, these men were highly gifted and spiritually mature.

With this context, listen closely: God is selective in whom He heals, but while He is selective, it does not negate the truth that healing is always within His will. However, His desire goes beyond healing specific conditions—He seeks to heal the whole person (John 7:23).

Divine healing is real because we have received Christ’s stripes as our own.

The Eagle

“Be Still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth”
- Psalm 46:10

Have you ever seen an eagle soaring high in the sky? There’s a certain majesty in the way it moves; graceful, calm, and steady. It doesn’t frantically flap its wings to stay aloft. Instead, it stretches them wide, trusting the wind to support it. The eagle understands when to rest and when to act, relying not on its own effort but on the invisible force that carries it. God calls us to stop striving, to stop fighting, dropping our hands, trusting his unseen hand guiding and sustaining us.

“Be still..”. In Hebrew (“Rapha”) it means to be weak, to let go. In other words, to surrender. “Be still and know..”. God commands us to be aware of Him. “..know that I am”, what is He? He is the bread of life (Jn. 6:48), the good shepherd (Jn. 10:11), the light of the world (Jn. 9:5), the way, the truth, and the life (Jn. 14:6). “..I Am who I Am” (Ex. 3:14). And ultimately: “I am God.” (Ps. 46:10). During this time, Israel knew God was present and alive. They acknowledged and surrendered to His unwavering authority. In the true knowledge of God and his deliverance, there is peace.

The Assyrian host was at its height. They had the most formidable army on the face of the earth. 185,000 strong (2 Kg.18-19; 1 Chron. 32; Isa. 36-37). Yet it was God who destroyed them with only his voice (Ps.46:6). This was when this psalm was most likely composed. “Be still..” was both for His nation, Israel, as comfort, and for other nations as a warning. Israel trusted the winds.

After the humble acknowledgment of God, who is the ultimate truth, we are provided three ways to practice stillness: 1. Surrender control, 2. Check your heart posture, and 3. Reflect.

The eagle teaches us that stillness is not weakness but wisdom. By ceasing our striving and trusting the wind beneath us, we find rest and strength. Now, I am not an eagle, but my motive is clear: “Be still.”

The next time you see an eagle in flight, remember Psalm 46:10. “Be still..” Trust the wind of God’s Spirit. And know that He is in control.

Knowing God

My schedule fluctuates frequently, but one constant has been my morning time with God at the Bayside Church Café. While studying, I often noticed the same individual. The first time, he sat at the far end, dressed in leather. On his table were three things: a Bible, a journal, and a motorcycle helmet. A few days later, he was closer, wearing a blue dress shirt and slacks. Then, he sat even nearer, in a stained yellow shirt and basketball shorts. It got to the point where i’ve seen him so much, it’s almost as if we weren’t strangers. Eventually, after many non verbal encounters, he finally approached me in a sweatshirt and jeans and asked the question, “How do I know God?” I don’t remember exactly how I answered, but his question lingered in my mind. “Do I truly know God?”

Knowing God begins with breaking down the barriers between our hearts and His glory. J.I. Packer said, “When we seek Him with all our hearts, we will find Him.” Seeking God requires listening, often through His word or prayer, and while this leads to conviction of our sins, it forces us to confront our own helplessness,, it ultimately leads to forgiveness (1 John 1:8-10). Life may not get easier, but it will get better.

God’s word helps us by: 1. Acknowledging His authority, 2. Trusting His plan, and 3. Responding to His call (Matt. 11:28-29). There’s a difference between having knowledge of God and truly knowing Him. It is an intimate relationship. Timothy Keller said, “You don’t fall into love. You commit to it.” Likewise, when you commit to God, He aligns your desires with His.

The man’s outfits were always different, some bright, some dark, as if he was lost. But once we know God, we are invited to wear His armor consistently (Ephesians 6:10-20), not lost but found in His love.

God is in awe of you, and as His greatest creation, now is extending the grace that allows us to know Him in return. So I leave you with the golden question: What is holding you back from Knowing Him? by @zachlintonn

True Worship

J.I Packer describes it as “the due response of rational creatures to the self-revelation of their creator”. Worship involves, 1. Praising what he is, and by this, being our God. 2. Expressing our deep and humble gratitude for what He has done for us. 3. A desire, a complete awe, an overwhelming wonder of Him. And, 4. Trusting that as our God, considering what he has done for us, He can certainly do it again. True worship is opening our hearts out to the Lord. It is a two-sided relationship.

The Old Testament brings the awe and joy of drawing near to God’s divine presence with humility, and confession of our sins (Prov. 28:13). In the Mosaic covenant (Ex. 19 & 24) God gave Israel a strict pattern for true worship. This is seen throughout the Old Testament, as well as examples, primarily the book of Psalms, which Christians still use to this day as an act of worship, setting up for a good conscience (Psalm 24:4). The pattern includes rituals, and sacrificial systems, and other “ceremonial laws”. But now, being under the new covenant (Heb. 8:13); where Jesus Christ’s ultimate sacrifice on the cross which transcended over all the earth, replaced the mosaic pattern of dealing with sin.

All noted, the juxtaposition of praise, thanksgiving, trust, wonder, acknowledgment, they all stay unchanged to this day, therefore we must not take worshiping our Father less seriously, by restricting the act of 1 church service on a Sunday morning, but rather we must worship in everything we do and everywhere we ought to be “on earth as it is in heaven” (Matt. 5:10); as worship is central in heaven (Rev. 4:8-11; 5:9-14); By it is our job to make it central on earth, however it is not your job to take the burden of being the main character of your life! This is True worship.

True Worship is “God Centered”, With being God centered comes with praise from your heart, soul, and mind. Francis Chan once said “Isn’t it a comfort to worship a God we cannot exaggerate!” Examples of true worship speak to everyone differently. How do you really worship the Lord?

Is it overwhelming to hear? I am overwhelmed by Him! Therefore this message is indeed, a personal act of worship. by @zachlintonn
