“Feathers” is finally out and we’re so excited to share it with you! - Link in Bio In May of this past year I was approached by Descanso Gardens to create a short documentary about their newest gallery show, “Searching for Serenity,” at the Sturt Haaga Gallery. The culmination of this collaboration resulted in a a 14 minute short film highlighting 3 artists who rose from the ashes of the Eaton Canyon Fire. “Feathers,” features artists Laura Parker, Delbar Shahbaz and Robert Lang. The film chronicles their loss and the artworks they made in response, all currently on display at the Sturt Haaga Gallery in Descanso Gardens, as part of the show “Searching for Serenity,” alongside “Feathers.” Directed by Zach Marks Original Score & Sound design by Juki Timoner Edited by Robert Falk Huge thank you to everyone who helped! Zach Marks is a Los Angeles born filmmaker whose work explores resilience, renewal, and the relationship between people and the environments they inhabit. He’s drawn to stories about how people and places recover from loss. That interest has taken him from the mining towns along Colorado’s San Juan River to the burned neighborhoods of Altadena, always looking for the quiet moments where healing begins. Marks’ first documentary, A Valley Reborn, follows the EPA and U.S. Forest Service as they work to remediate a century of mining waste embedded in a headwater of the San Juan River in the tiny mountain town of Telluride, Colorado, reducing the risk of contamination to a vital water source for the surrounding region. He went on to serve as associate producer on All the Walls Came Down, which premiered at the Telluride Film Festival and was shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Film. More recently, he partnered with Descanso Gardens to make Feathers, a short about three artists rebuilding their creative lives after the Eaton Canyon Fire. #beknown #feellikeafilmmaker by @zachlmarks
