From my Form + Flow series, my first bronze sculpture. From historic heat waves to historic rain fall; cutting, grinding, welding, sanding, buffing + driving across the country, this was among the most physically + mentally demanding pieces I've ever created. I was commissioned by @tocartwork to design/create this piece for a very special collector in Telluride, Colorado. I love working with TOC and this our new favorite project together ❤️ We decided to deliver + install the bronze raw/polished to allow the piece to develop a patina naturally over time. The way it patinas will be completely unique to its environment. It'll go through many colors and stages of patina as it continues to evolve for years to come. ❤️🐾⚓️About three years ago, after being found wandering the streets of St. Louis at only about six months old, he found his way into our lives, and we truly believe we were the lucky ones! From a very rough start to a life … now his life is full of boat days, long runs, homemade agility courses, steak, salmon, pork loin, a little Reddi-wip, endless snuggles, and spending time with his favorite, friend Kaylah; he’s become the happiest, funniest, most loving dog. ❤️🐾Watching his confidence grow and seeing the joy he has for life is something we’ll never take for granted. Had to get creative to set this tricky block. This section is too far from the scaffolding and the 2nd floor. So I grabbed a piece of angled rebar, stood on the wall and lowered it into place. Unfortunately, you can’t slide the block into place because it smears the spray foam adhesive and it won’t make a good connection. Only a few more rows and I’ll reach the 3rd floor and won’t have to set anymore blocks like this. Studio construction update and a huge “thank you” to everyone who wished me a happy birthday yesterday! @briesmithey made sure it was an amazing day from start to finish ❤️ It’s been a bit since the last update and while the walls have not grown taller, a lot of progress has been made and the art of construction continues. This video covers 2nd floor lumber delivery, backfilling the foundation, concrete flat work and water mitigation. I got the 2nd floor ledger board mounted and while I waited for the anchor bolts to arrive I began backfilling the foundation with 1” clean rock for water drainage. To my surprise, it took over 100 cubic yards of rock (10 truckloads), and most of it had to be shoveled by hand because it was inaccessible to the Bobcat… shoveling rock all day became my workout for a few weeks 💪Once I had everything graded out it was time for concrete flat work. The guys at “To the T Concrete” did an excellent job and Ben Jordan with the concrete pump made the process run smoothly. Special thanks to my assistant @zacksouthard.art my dad, and friend Jon Reinholz for all of your help. No more anxiety over heavy downpours. A year ago I started building retaining walls in preparation for the construction of the new studio and not only do they make our yard more functional + beautiful, they also direct the flow of water. With the enormous hill in the backyard, ever since I started excavating we’ve been dealing terrible mud issues. But now the foundation is finished, backfilled with drainage rock and capped with a concrete wraparound sidewalk and the runoff is flowing exactly as designed… it’s a beautiful thing. #hardscapedesign #hardscapes #artstudio #stl #containerhome by @zacksmithey

Icon series, 48”x36”, acrylic, available… a portrait of the legendary Twiggy, reimagined through pure, unfiltered color.No brushes. No tools. No direct touch to the canvas or paint. Every line, every shadow, every luminous highlight came straight from the tube - squeezed in deliberate strings and threads of vivid acrylic that layered over time.What started as raw, extruded ribbons of color slowly converged into her unmistakable gaze; those wide, doe-like eyes framed by dramatic lashes, the pixie crop, the spirit that defined an era.
