Milk hits STT 5.15.26 with an immersive dual-location fine art experience. Krankie II: Middle Of The Food Chain launches in Charlotte Amalie at 81C with proxy activations at the XIIID Innovation and Strategy Center at UVI.

Krankie II: Middle of the Food Chain by Emily Braswell @strawberriemilk_ and Jenna Rees @warmmilkwithsugar unfolds as a warped cinematic universe where painting, video, and sculpture collapse into a single, unstable narrative field. Centered around a fictional 1980s movie star in a meta-perspective of invented lore from parallel storylines, the work drifts between past and present, constructing a world where time folds in on itself and meaning emerges through fragments rather than sequence.
Hybrid airbrush and traditional paintings operate as imagined film artifacts: posters, stills, and visual residues from fictitious movies that are rendered with a hyper-saturated, almost synthetic clarity. Their surfaces oscillate between softness and precision, evoking the tactile nostalgia of analog media while simultaneously referencing the flattened glow of digital imagery. Sculptural interventions punctuate the space with quiet absurdity, grounding the work in physical form while amplifying its psychological tension.
The accompanying video component extends this atmosphere into motion, offering a disjointed, voyeuristic glimpse into the interior lives orbiting this fictional figure. Rather than resolving into narrative, the work lingers in mood—an uneasy balance of humor, longing, and quiet unpredictability.
Drawing from the American south small-town culture and nostalgia for the sensationalized monolithic star style fame of pre-internet times, Krankie II: Middle of the Food Chain constructs a world that feels both intimately familiar and fundamentally distorted. 81C Arts launched its third physical location on St Croix with St. Thomas artist Siyandi’s @abrokenglassdrawing featured exhibition analogous (uh·na·luh·gus).

“Bringing my current body of work to St. Croix feels like a continuation of the conversations that began in St. Thomas — about creativity, technology, and the ways art connects our communities across the V.I. I’m grateful to 81C for championing that spirit of connection through their programs and for creating spaces where art can bridge islands, generations, and ideas.” - Siyandi Matthias

The Farmhouse Gallery, housed at @prosperity_farm_distillery in Frederiksted allows 81C Arts to broaden viewership reach, expand programming, and strengthen art and education dialogues between our communities, especially amongst VI artists/creatives.

Following our St. Thomas gallery at the 81C flagship and our creative education center housed in the Camille Pissarro House in historic Charlotte Amalie, this new STX platform for arts curation, events, and programs has been made possible only by a spirited collaboration between the 81C and Prosperity teams.

Join us for our the opening of The Farmhouse Gallery at Prosperity Farm Distillery featuring STT artist Siyandi’s @abrokenglassdrawing full scale art exhibition entitled analogous. Please share far and wide, and we hope you will join us opening night at the farm.

This shoot idea was inspired by my search for the sweet spot between timeless and today. It marks the first week of my birthday month series, a fresh start and a reflection of growth. I'm back and super excited to share my passion for modeling and creation through each frame. Working alongside some of the top photographers has made this vision even more special. Opening 10.11.25 at 81C

Barrio Beats: Tales of Rhythm and Dance features new work by internationally recognized artist Entes (Joan Jiménez Suero), whose visual language moves to the pulse of diasporic memory, Afro-Latin identity, and the everyday rhythms of urban life. A celebration of movement, gesture, and community, this solo exhibition offers a vibrant exploration of how sound and dance become forms of connection, remembrance, and resistance.

Known globally for his murals and public works across the Americas, Europe, and the Caribbean, Entes brings his signature style—layered color, gestural forms, and textured surfaces—into a gallery setting with a dynamic presentation of paintings, sculpture, print, and mixed media. His subjects—figures in motion, neighborhood scenes, communal gatherings—express not only cultural vitality, but also the unspoken resilience found in daily life.

At the heart of the exhibition is Calle Ocho, the iconic Miami corridor reimagined as a symbolic crossroads. Through it, Entes weaves together the threads of Afro-Peruvian roots, Caribbean rhythms, and urban experiences into a shared visual tapestry. The barrio he evokes—both real and imagined—becomes a space of migration, memory, and celebration.

Curated by Odette Casamayor-Cisneros and 81C Arts, the exhibition positions movement as a universal language. In Entes’s world, rhythm is not escape—it is transmission. It is joy as resilience. It is the beat of belonging.
