Goodbye to second grade! Conor and Catherine have had the BEST school year. Their teachers Senora Proudfoot (lots of extra challenges for Conor) and Senora Hwang (fully embraced our daughter's school alter ego Cathy) were simply their perfect matches. A year of Spanish, multiplication and division, our first Spelling Bee, braces and Invisalign, and so much more! (FYI today is pajama day 😆) by @zadocangell

It takes a lot of people to make art and many of them don’t get the recognition they deserve. So every Thursday I am shining a light on fellow creatives that I have worked with (or would like to)!

Today I am spotlighting Zadoc Angell, a literary manager who shepherds his clients through times of feast and famine, but keeps them focused on the positive and their unique talents at all times. Full disclosure: Zadoc and I were roommates almost 20 years ago, when he was just out of college. He’s like the little brother I never had, and I am so proud of the mark he has made in this business. He is dedicated to innovative storytelling, respectful and collaborative business relationships and making dreams into reality.

I asked Zadoc a few questions and here is what he had to say:

JOB TITLE: Co-President, Echo Lake Management

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF YOUR JOB?
My favorite part of my job is when I help a client achieve a big goal in his/her/their career — staffing for the first time, selling a pilot, becoming a showrunner, and more. I like to say there are “many firsts” in a creative person’s career. My job is the most fulfilling when I make one of those “firsts” happen for you!

WHAT DO YOU WISH ACTORS (OR OTHER CREATIVES) UNDERSTOOD ABOUT WHAT YOU DO?
Don’t forget that your representative has an office phone! Since the pandemic, creatives seem to have forgotten their reps have office phones, phone sheets to track calls, and assistants who answer the phone whenever you ring. Because all communication has shifted to email and text, we are now experiencing an overwhelming volume of digital communication (particularly over email) and a lot less phone conversation. A phone call may actually be a much easier (and faster!) way to reach your representative and help you cut through the clutter. I always feel my relationship with my client is renewed after having a phone call. It’s a powerful feeling of reconnection that email and text cannot achieve. Don’t forget that phone calls are a powerful tool in your tool box to effectively communicate with your representative.

Had a lovely night reconnecting with our oldest friends Julie Yoffy and Yo Ffy tonight after at least a decade! They met Catherine and Conor and we met 3 of their 4 beautiful kids for the first time! Somehow time has not passed for our friendships despite the Michigan/California divide. Enjoy these pics of us all together and Sean with baby Jude and teenager Jude. Somehow Sean made him smile! ❤️ by @zadocangell
