I’ve been waiting on this my whole LIFE!
This dream has been waking me up most nights. Posters of the fair in my room, St Tammany Parish Fair shirts in my dresser, and the dream of representing something much bigger than myself have followed me through my childhood room, my dorm room, and now my college apartment.
To represent the fair that gave me something when I felt like nothing is my biggest dream. On September 19th, God made that dream come true.
Today, I honor God, St Tammany Parish Fair, and that little girl who had a dream that she never gave up on.

And so, for the first time, I’ll leave you all with my jingle!
Coming to you LIVE from the St Tammany Parish Fair! As you walk along with me through this fabulous fair, you can see all the flair that it brings. From livestock shows to rodeos, carnivals too, the St Tammany Parish Fair is sure to leave your stomachs stuffed and your eyes peeled for more. The home economics building is where you’ll find me, competing my cloth for everyone to see. With a fair that says “come one, come all” you know we’ve got the best of them all. So come on down to parade around town for the fair that makes the world go round. Proudly representing the parish that I cherish, I am your 2026 Miss St Tammany Parish Fair queen, Zaidee Cain.

Thank you to the official Miss St Tammany glam team, @the_bronze_beauty_collective for my wonderful hair, makeup, and spray tan!

Thank you @ledphotography.llc for capturing me in these photos and during the fair! You are beyond amazing!

Thank you @royalrhinestone16 for my banner and train, your work is phenomenal!

A huge thank you to @melissa_primes_dottolo and the @st.tammanyparishfair association for making the fair weekend and my reign so far so memorable! I don’t know what I would do without the support of such an amazing team.

And last but certainly not least, a big hug and thank you to my mama, my manager, and my rock. To most, this might just be a crown, banner, and title. But to you, it means watching the little girl you raised achieve her lifelong dream. Thank you for loving me at my best and my worst. You being my mom is the greatest blessing God gave me. taken in St. Tammany Parish Fair by @zaideecain

As the St Tammany Parish Fair draws near, I want to share my why.

When I was in the third grade, I moved to St Tammany Parish. Growing up, my fondest memories of the fair were visiting the Home Economics building with my Mimi and looking at the art that the community made that year. She always brought the pieces to life and appreciated every detail of every submission.

As I grew, I began to form into a nervous preteen. I was twelve, in the sixth grade, and I didn’t believe in myself. As my doubt about myself grew, I started to give up on things quickly, forming into a depression that I carried. I thought I was incapable of anything good.

But then God gave me the fair. My sixth grade Home Economics teacher, an angel sent from heaven, gave me the idea of submitting a sewing project into the St Tammany Parish fair. I began to stay after school to work on my project, making a skirt with a fun pattern. To my teacher, it was a simple act of kindness, but to me, it was the world.

As the days to the fair approached, I started to feel excited about seeing my project at the fair. I started sewing in the fifth grade, after my mom and Mimi got me a sewing machine. My love for fashion only grew, but I had no faith that my submission would get anything special. However, my mom and I still went to the fair that year and saw my little skirt.

As we walked among the other submissions, I stared in awe at the work my community put in. Every item was so thought out and executed beautifully. I will never forget the lights in the booths that illuminated the pieces, the smell of the wood, the cool that spread through the building, or the feeling of hope that began to grow in me.

Then, my mom and I walked up to my project. As I looked down, I saw the blue ribbon tacked on the front. In that moment, the St Tammany Parish fair gave me something that has stayed with me ever since; the realization that I could do something good.

As the fair approaches, I want to remind my community that the fair is more than just a fun time for pictures, a break from the daily hustle, or an exciting place to ride rides.
