What’s the first thing you listen for in a great aux player?

To me, you can’t have one without the others!

Should people NOTICE your aux?
Sometimes the best aux part is the one people don’t even realize is there!

❓Whats the best approach to playing gospel/worship aux keys ❓

For me, everything is specific to the story of the song and what’s happening in the stems📝

Are VSTs better than real keyboards for worship keys/aux?

I think yes given the infinite amount of plug-ins you can use in a set, but the real hardware is great too!

Should more churches bring back the aux keys position? Just like lead, rhythm, and acoustic guitar work together, aux keys adds a complementary flavor to any song. But many churches are phasing it out!

Are aux keys still necessary for modern worship bands? I say yes because they enhance the musicality and set the atmosphere. But you can make an argument that with most teams using tracks with synths it’s not needed🤔

Do you use VSTs when playing aux keys?

Aux keys are meant to complement not overpower. Be intentional about picking your spots and use the tempo, feel, lead lines and hits as your guide! 📝
